Purcell “P.J.” Piggott
Purcell “PJ” Piggott received his B.S. degree from Grambling State University with a B.S. degree in Kinesiology concentration Sports Management, and a minor in coaching. Currently he is employed as a Health and Physical Education teacher at The Pines Treatment Center. Mr. Piggott is also the head varsity girls basketball coach and assistant varsity football coach at Lafayette High School. In addition to his teaching and coaching careers, Coach Piggott is also co-founder and executive board member of Real People Educating Other (RPEO) a non-profit organization. He also serves as an in-home counselor with New Season Clinical Services.
Coach Piggott is a former football, basketball and track/field standout at Lafayette High School. He was an outstanding athlete who received many district, regional, and state designations. After graduating from Lafayette High School Coach Piggott was recruited to play basketball and started at point guard as a freshman at Dean Junior College in Franklin, MA. He then transferred to Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA where he was a member of the pioneering CNU football team. He concluded his undergraduate career at Grambling State University where he had the opportunity to work with legendary Coach Doug Williams as a part of the football coaching staff.
After completing college Coach Piggott began his professional coaching careers, which consist of the following positions: Assistant Football Coach-Berkeley Middle School; Assistant Football Coach Junior Varsity-Lafayette High School; Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach- Lafayette High School; Head Coach-Williamsburg Boys 16-18 Neighborhood Basketball League; and Head Coach-Williamsburg Boys 13 and younger AAU Basketball Team, respectively. As an accomplished athlete and coach Mr. Piggott understands what it takes to become and remain a champion.
