Gangsta M.I.D., born Shamari Middlebrooks, is a humble guy. The self- proclaimed “oldest 24 year old in the world” has seen his share of adversity. “There is a quote from Micheal Jordan that has stuck with me over the years. In this quote MJ says, ‘I have failed over and over again, and that is why I succeed…'” M.I.D discovered his passion for writing and rhyming at an early age. “I remember getting my ass whooped by Moms a couple of times when I was like 7. She found a rap I had wrote and it had like all these curse words in it. Damn, I wish I could find that piece of paper, I was going off…” M.I.D.’s love for the pen only strengthened with time,by his junior year in high school he realized he had a pure writing talent. “I just used to write rhymes, during class, after school, it didn’t matter I just wanted to rhyme. The crazy thing about it was that I was shy so I use to only actually kick these rhymes for my brother and my homeboy Freaky.(who is now co-CEO of our label, SSMG)Freaky would be like damn bruh that shit dope, but I always thought he was just gassing me up…”
Fast forward from then to now, M.I.D. is all about “Thru My Red Eyez…” his debut mixtape on which he covers it all from his days in the trap, relationship troubles, and basically just showing the world who he is and where he plans on going.”We all have a past, and I set it out to make music that people of all walks can relate to…Yeah I used to trap but where I’m from its not a lot of people who didn’t but my music isn’t just for trapppers its much deeper than that…I make music about life…” With the help of childhood friend, Freaky D, the name Gangsta M.I.D. is slowly building a buzz in the streets and on social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook.
