Bio

TaSha Ryan although new to being in the forefront of the music scene is no stranger to music. She has been singing since she could talk (sounds cliché like you may hear every other singer quote but *true story* ask her mother) and she’s been singing ever since. She started out singing in the choir and praise team at her home church and evolved from there. She started acting and singing in several gospel stage plays through the guidance of her mentor which gave her the courage to step out of her comfort zone.

For some years she went into a lull and removed herself from her passion and one of the things she loved most “singing”. After a breakthrough she emerged from the miry clay and began to transform into the artist she is today. In February 2010 she began singing background in the all girl band for American Idol contestant Aloha Mischeaux, where they opened up for: Lyfe Jennings, Dondria and John Legend. She later moved out of the background to become a solo artist but has also sung background for the likes of country music artist Wild Bill Young (opened up for Chuck Berry), Tracy Smith, Tish Haynes-Keys and Sineta Roker. She is blessed to be among her peers and share the spotlight with such great local artists as Theresa Payne, Tiffany Elle, Kenny DeShields, Katrina Reece and the list goes on…

Her sultry jazz inspired instrument (voice) is much needed in this industry. She is moved by the alto-toned voices of Anita Baker, Lalah Hathaway, Jazmine Sullivan, Jessica Reedy, Lauryn Hill, Ella Fitzgerald & Billie Holiday. She is inspired by all genres of music and refuses to place her music into one category. “Music transcends all race and color barriers, stereotypes, genders, socioecomic positions, beliefs and geographic locations.” TaSha Ryan also states “I want to make music for the masses, I want to make music that touches peoples lives, that’s why I call my music my “Heart’s Song”. Everything she writes or sings is based on life experiences, things she’s seen or been through or issues she wants to address.

She gives all glory to God for blessing her with this gift and allowing her to be a vessel to touch people all over. She credits her son and her mother for giving her the strength to keep going and pushing towards the mark. She is currently working on an album, when asked when will it be released, She says she is in my rush because she doesn’t want to give you just anything, she wants to make sure its something meaningful that you can play for years to come…
