Producer, Rapper SpO2k also known as the “SkullHead Don” was born as Maurice Anthony Gilmore on December 6, 1989 in Montgomery, Al.
Removed from the parental care of his mother due to her drugs habit only after a couple of months of birth. He was placed in the custody of the state of Alabama. Adopted months later and moved to Bessemer, Al. His parental guardian changed his named to Waynmon Anthony Toney. SpO2k grew up in the Greater Birmingham Area.
SpO2k has always had a passion for music. He grew up listening to R&B and Hip-Hop.
In 2001, at the age 11, seeing how interested and determine he was about music around the house, his parents convinced him to join the band to learn how to play an instrument. Tuba was his instrument of choice. Not only did he learn how to read music, he also learned how to compose his own arrangements.
Also the same year he developed a interest in rap battling in his school . He started freestyling
among other kids of all ages around the school and neighborhood.
In 2004, at the age 14, SpO2k started producing original beats using FL Studios, He’s more than proficient in that software today.
A year later he started writing and using his creativity to apply his lyrical skill to his impressive beats.
In 2006, at the age 16, SpO2k teamed up with another local solo artist “Big Tip” who is now known as “Skoolie Escobar” .
The two artist combined their skills of beat producing and lyrical genius and form a group called P.G.K. (Playground Kidz). The produce an album by themselves with hits “That’s What It Is”, “They Know I’m Rollin” and “Won’t Waist Time”. The two split up at the end of high school to pursue their solo careers .
In 2008 after graduating from Jess Lanier High School. SpO2k enlisted in the United States Navy. He made that decision due to the ambition of being independent and having a guaranteed source of finances to support his musical equipment requirements. He also plans on enrolling in college to obtain more knowledge about music and the music industry.
Stationed in Norfolk, Va in 2009, SpO2k is trying to rekindle his name in a new location. He released his first mixtape entitled “Stand Alone” in June of 2011. That mixtape started a buzz in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton and surrounding cites. It also sparked a buzz back in Alabama.
His newest mixtape “Under Estimated” released in August of 2011, which includes collaborations with local artist was a high anticipated mixtape in the local area. ( Unlike Stand Alone )
SpO2k is developing a self made project. An Album Entitle “(F.N.F.L.) Fast Now Feast Later” which includes hits “Bop Control”, “1 For Me” and “Times Get Hard”. He has also been featured on a local artist Single “Screamin My Name”.
SpO2k said “ I want to make good music for everybody, feel good music for young, mature, old school, and new school. I love to create music and try new genres. I hope to make a positive influence to people in everyday life through my music.”
