Bio

Son of Tony is more than just your typical lyricist coming out of Buffalo, New York; he is quite possibly the most dynamic sound in the streets today. Writing about struggle, pain, violence, and disrespect came naturally to this young black man whom started writing at the age of 10. Unfortunately, dreams do not always pay the bills so his life took many different paths before he seriously starting pursing music in 2014. His name stems from a deep respect and honor for his father whom he recently lost.

He dropped his first EP, Son Of Tony, in April 2014. Within three months, six of his eight songs, “Who Would’ve Thought”, “I’m Sitting”, “Motherless Child”, :I’m Sittin”, “The Feel” and Enemies On Deck Ft. DJ Bandana Black”found a mixtape slot on Coast2Coast #NextUp Volumes #158, #171, #174, #175, #192, and R&B Edition #3. He also has three songs currently being shopped for gaming and movie placements. His next project – ANIMUS: Vol. 1 – hosted by DJBandana Black, from hit station 93.7 WBLK FM is scheduled to drop first quarter of 2015.

The name animus is meant to symbolize the way in which humans take on animal characteristics in order to survive, rise above, withstand, and/or endure all the situations that life throws at them. In our effort to sustain our lives we must take on these animal characteristics – often times being unaware of it while in that form. Even more often, people become stuck in these roles and never recover themselves. Sometimes, it takes an elephant to never forget. A snake to kill a snake. A gorilla to tame a beast.

In addition to his music, Son of Tony makes frequent guest appearances on Block Vision Films, Live on Location Edition. He recently cohosted Xclusive Vibe Radio on Power 109.9 in Toledo, Ohio as well. Son of Tony continues to be interviewed by a host of radio shows and is always seen giving back in some way. Most recently, he visited the Special Olympics in Toledo, Ohio and acted as a mentor to the youth.

His two biggest musical influences are Nas and 50 Cent. Nas because he has a street mind but is lyrically inclined. He taught Son of Tony that if he does it his way, he can become a legend. 50 Cent influenced him because 50 is a hood dude with an acute business acumen. He taught Sony of Tony that an underdog can win enormously. Like Son of Tony, they both have their own style but talk about what they have been through while making others talk about them the whole way.

His biggest inspirations are Tyler Perry, because he took an ink pen and made it mightier than a sword. And Ice Cube, because he took pen and became iconic. People that have multi-talents, inspire him, because it shows brilliance. You do not have to be good at just one thing. You can be good at many.
