Bio

For some, music is a part time project; a hobby. For Rasheid “Sheezy” Boykin, his work is an intricate tapestry encompassing his love of music, artistry, and the female persona. Music production, engineering, as well as music composition are his tools and the world is his canvas. An eclectic mix of Metropolitan living and a gritty local music scene allowed him to hone his ear and perfect his craft.
Growing up in a musical household, it only seems natural that Sheezy would immediately make his way into music. However, his father, a former Motown musician, made it very clear that the music industry was a difficult place, not for the faint of heart. While Sheezy respected the advice, he continued on his path. At 15, he began playing the keys for local go-go bands, eventually releasing a critically acclaimed album that remains a DMV (DC/MD/VA area) classic to this day. In his first year of college, his production instincts kicked in and took over. Two years later he dropped out and decided from then on that music = life.
With Sheezy, one can never know what to expect. He’s brought innovative flair to the “Step Out” LP he executive produced for reggae artist Kenyatta Fiya; an album that fashioned an international single “Me & MacZeen.” Alternatively, he’s done house remixes on commercial artists’ hits, ranging from 50 Cent to Ciara. A five year stint in Baltimore played a heavy influence in his work as well, delving deep into the house/club scenes entrenched in Charm City.
Greatness isn’t an overnight acquisition. It comes from hard work and paying homage to the greats in the arena. Sheezy recognized this early on and credits Quincy Jones, Timbaland, Mike Dean, Rod Temperton and his father as musical influences. In 2005, Sheezy formed Yummy’z Muzik in honor of his slain cousin, James “Yummy” Dunston. At Yummy’z, Sheezy is allowed to have complete creative control of his work as a producer, engineer, and lyricist. Sheezy continues to cherish his opportunity to release alternative-sounding releases, making sure he maintains his atypical status as a producer extraordinaire.
