Bio | SAM RAWLS, one of today’s stellar voices in R&B hails from Michigan, home of Motown, carrying on the tradition of its reputation of excellence in soul music. Now living in Atlanta, GA, SAM, like his cousin, the legend Lou Rawls, is making his own indelible mark on the music world with his distinctive blend of soul, gospel and funk, putting him in a category all his own. SAM began honing his skills and 6-octave range at the age of three in church and has since become a featured favorite on the New York music circuit having brought down the house at some of its most prominent venues, including: Apollo Theater, BB Kings, Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar, Village Underground, Café Wha? and Joe’s Pub, earning the praise and support of other legendary performers such as Janet Jackson, Nick Ashford, Valerie Simpson and El DeBarge. SAM’s forthcoming album, Long Awaited, featuring hits such as an unparalleled rendition of Prince’s Adore, and his original How it Feels to be Loved, and Ever Since Last Night showcases his superior vocals and talents as a skilled and thoughtful songwriter. In addition to his own packed house appearances, SAM has performed with some of contemporary music’s hottest acts such as Kanye West, Ludacris, Faith Evans, Heather Headley and more. He is currently writing and producing for several new artists and film soundtracks. SAM RAWLS not only raises the standards in music but creates them, as The VOICE of Soulful R&B. |
