Bio

Tonic Man comes to us as the “musical roots man”, the long awaited “healer of Hip-Hop.” Tonic’s music is the soother you need when no one else will put words to how you feel, mixing every day life to your not so every day beats. A native of Detroit, Michigan, and a product of the same environmental cesspool as the likes of Dennis Rodman, Eminem, Royce Da 5’9, Kiss and the very “Detroit Motor City” image that comes to mind, Tonic Man emerges with amazing versatility and outstanding deliverances. Nate Foster, a.k.a. Tonic Man, born May 31, 1976, has been rhyming ever since grade school. He embarked on a public speaking venture with Landmark Education (a self help organization that teaches individuals “a curricular of living.’) where his natural oral presentation led him to work with the Detroit Urban League. Here, he aired a televised PSA urging teens to “stop the violence.” Tonic learned to produce music at the age of 14 when he was introduced to George Clinton of Parliament and the Funkadelic Allstars by his . This encounter was the first of many for Tonic Man who went on to collaborate and even open for acts including Bernie Mac, Detroit Most Wanted, Jack Frost, Smiley, Wanda Waters, Teddy Carpenter, and Simply Marvolus (by way of Robert Hewit’s Hungery Hip Hop Productions), Afrikka Bambatta, Marc Carey (www.caryoutprodutions.com), Roy Hargrove and Eminem (Rawkus Records Lyricist Lounge). In 1997 Tonic Man moved to New York on an invitation from a friend for what was to be just the weekend, decided to stay and continue his passion. He 2 kids with a schoolteacher living in Harlem, settled down and now has three children. He founded Richbumz Entertainment in Brooklyn, New York where he worked with local artists such as Mont Black, Slizz, Chee, Link 6, and Hev One to help build there fan base. Currently, Tonic Man lives with his family in Southfield, Michigan where the lyrical potions ebb and flow over unforgettable beats that disturb the sensory nerves and have you craving for another dose. A true believer in the return of originality and true talent, Tonic Man is here to remind us all of who we are and what we have become. The “next” is here and Tonic Man has his finger on the pulse of today’s music. His mastery of sounds and thorough appreciation of music shines through in his creations and are destined to live in music history. As I watch Tonic intensely at work on his computer, through the thick cloud of smoke and incense burning are images of his closest inspirations. A wall of fame if you will featuring Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Common Sense, Rakim, Led Zeppelin, and the late Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac. Testimony to the idea that greatness only recognizes greatness….
