Bio | Rammy, The Global Dimension of Hip Hop as the local press likes to call her, is a Hip Hop recording artist, singer/rapper, songwriter, dancer, actress, author of children’s and poetry books, and a humanitarian. Rammy started her musical career with her former Hip Hop group, Presence Air Force, a teenage Rap group composed of high school students in Abidjan. The video of their single “La Gnole” featured on their first album gave the Rap band a national and international exposure in Africa and Europe, particularly in France. The time with her former band taught Rammy the pros and cons of the music business. She was able to emerge on a predominantly boys’ market, as an undeniable force to reckon with on the Hip Hop scene. Rammy earned the respect of her peers and gained the heart of people not only in the music business, but also in the movie industry with her professionalism, hard work and talent. The lead role she played in a French short movie “La Parle” sheds light on the multi-dimensional talents Rammy is blessed with. While completing her Master in English at the University of Abidjan, Rammy made the decision to leave Ivory Coast, and return to the United States. Her priority was to pursue her studies, and above all follow her music career as a solo artist. The buzz surrounding her single “G for Gentlemen” currently airing on various international television networks and radio stations, indicates a successful musical career for the young rapper. No wonder, Rammy’s talent is getting her the recognition of great women organizations, such as the “Boss Lady Network”, which awarded her as the Winner of the Boss Lady Entrepreneur Award in December 2011. On August 11th 2012, Rammy did the opening for the Official Launch of the 12th Edition of the Kora Music Awards, at the Arena Stage in Southwest Washington. D.C. The following month, she was nominated for the same prestigious Kora Music Awards, the Grammy of Africa, in the category of the Best Female Artist in the U.S. Diaspora, with Beyoncé, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna, which took place on December 30th, 2012 at the Palais De Congrès de Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan/Ivory Coast. With these various distinguished accomplishments, Rammy has set the tone for what is to come. She is about to make it global, just like in one of her tracks entitled “Making it Global”, Rammy wants to reach all four corners of the world with this new album. The international flare portrayed in her music gives a universal appeal to her sound, and sets her apart from her peers. From her former group, Presence Air Force, to her Debut Album as a solo artist with her Independent Label, “Djelia Entertainment”, the endless support she is getting from fans throughout the world, and the dedication to her art, we can believe that the Grammy is the next logical step in Rammy’s career. Rammy, the International Hip Hop Star is coming into the game with the uniqueness of her sound to revive the female presence in Hip Hop and to bring the fun back to the fans. |
