Bio

Abiola Otusanya A.K.A ‘Musiq Man’ is an up-and-coming Musician, Performer, Composer, Arranger, Multi-Instrumentalist, Record Producer and an Engineer of Nigerian origin. He currently lives in Brighton, United Kingdom and generally works and is involved with the RnB, Soul, Jazz, and Hip Hop genres. He developed his love for music at the Age of 8 when he taught himself how to play the keyboard with some help from his cousin who was a contemporary keyboardist for a Gospel Church. At the age of 15 Abiola joined a Gospel Church Choir where he sang and played the keyboard at every Sunday service. During this time Abiola’s passion for music started to grow drastically and at 18 he left the choir because he had to move to Milton Keynes (UK) to study Maths and Physics. During this period Abiola stopped playing the keyboard and concentrated more on his studies until one day he walked into a famous church in Milton Keynes named CHRIST THE CORNERSTONE and as he saw a Grand Piano he immediately asked if he could play the instrument since he has never played one before. While he was playing, the Music Director of the church at the time, named Adrian Boynton (music qualifications include BA, FRCO and ARCM ; http://bmsmusic.moonfruit.com/#/adrian-boynton/4518786011), heard him play and asked him if would like to be one of his students. Abiola accepted the offer and learnt to play the piano classically and also how to read music scores. During his time at the Church, Abiola was persuaded by Adrian to join the church’s choir when he discovered Abiola’s singing talent. Adrian also recommended Abiola to the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) where he took Piano graded exams, which he passed with distinctions. In year 2004 Abiola got accepted into the University of Brighton, United Kingdom, where he studied a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and graduated with honours in June 2008.

Abiola is currently working with other talented Rappers, Singers and Songwriters in his locality. He can also play Percussions, Bass guitar and a little bit of the Saxophone. In regards to music programs, he uses Korg X3 , Reason and Pro-tools for making his music and he is constantly looking to expand his range and knowledge of various other musical equipment and programs. At the moment he is involved with performing and producing music in Brighton, England. He has recently produced/composed a track featuring the US rapper Jon Hope, US rapper Pyinfamous, and French rapper Kahifa titled “Life”, on which he also sings the chorus. He is also currently finishing up another beat solely for Jon Hope, which should be done in the near future. As well as that, he has produced a track for a Brighton based soul singer Sophie Paul where his vocals are also heard on the chorus. The song is titled “Another Late Night” and can be viewed on Youtube. More information about him and his music can be found on the following websites; Twitter, Myspace, and Facebook, etc; http://www.myspace.com/absmusiq, http://www.reverbnation.com/absmusiq, http://soundcloud.com/musiqman. He has also been involved with the Brighton based band Kaptan Swing (http://www.myspace.com/kaptanswing) and Grace Obika’s Band (Lemar’s cousin) as a keyboardist (http://www.graceobika.com).

Abiola has a large variety of beats that he has composed which he hopes to compile together. His main goal for the moment is to release an album with his best work so far as a free digital download to gain more recognition and allow people to listen to his work worldwide. Currently he is also involved in performing live at venues in Brighton and London (United Kingdom). As his beats and his creativity keep improving on a constant basis, his dream is to one day be able to produce,

compose, and work with big artists involved in the soul, jazz, reggae, and hip hop genres. His music is real, truthful, moving, and it is also very varied which allows him to be appreciated by various musical fans as well as work with artists from many genres. Abiola breathes and lives music, which he hopes will be heard and appreciated in countries such as the United States. The future is bright for this talented artist so check out his music and if you enjoy it, show support for this upcoming artist and spread the word!
