Bio

Mahaitia (born Mahaitia Samoi Blalock) was born on May 13th, 1992 in Stockton, CA. During birth, she suffered a spinal chord injury, which caused her right arm and hand unable to move. She had to wear a cast on her arm and/or wrist up until a few months later. Her arm and hand started to gain mobility, therefore, the cast came off.
However at a very young age, music began to become a big part of Mahaitia’s life, and started at around age 3, she started developing talents involving music. She started dancing, then began singing at age 5. She wrote “Sorry, But I’ve Got To Move” her first song, which she had kept to herself. She joined her first school choir in the 4th grade, then she joined a church choir in the 7th grade, at age 14.
Mahaitia recorded her first cover at age 17 for YouTube, “Cold Case Love” by R&B/Pop singer Rihanna. A year later, she made her first minute and a half song by teaming up with Andrew “Pedeweedy” Thompson on YouTube, creating a song for Ustream webshow “Space58”, starring actor/singer/dancer Tahj Mowry and CLICHE magazine editor Jeremy Fall. The song received great reviews on YouTube and Space58.
Now, Mahaitia is in the process of releasing her first album, entitled “Songs About Love” on iTunes this year in 2011. A song from the cd “I Don’t Like The Way”, which was produced by Terrence “Chrisma” Lewis, is slated to be her first single. She is currently in the Top 20 on the R&B/Soul charts in her hometown of Stockton, Ca.
She’s not going to let her disability or haters stop her from acheiving her dreams to stardom.
