Bio

When you hear “Lyric October”, the first thing you would think of is a beautiful sonnet filled with a cool eight bar hook. Growing up on Detroit’s lower eastside, life proved to be challenging in the city of despair. L.O., born as Jovan Moore, knew he was going to be a star at an early age. He was introduced to music by his late uncle Sonny Cannon, who played the saxophone for a band in the mid 80’s, and played background for well-known acts such as; Gladys Knight, The Temptations, and many more. Immediately, Lyric fell in love with the craft after sneaking out of bed one night to watch his uncle rehearse. He was sold! His next Christmas wish would be a keyboard…nothing else, his wish was granted. Vowing to his uncle to never leave music, Lyric October made a promise to himself to never lose his love for music.
At the age of 16, Lyric’s family packed up their belongings and moved to the south. Moving to Tennessee from Michigan proved that things would be a little different than what he was used to. The music had a different sound, it didn’t have the Motown sound. Lyric October wasn’t adapting to his new home, it really felt different. Seeing there wasn’t a high demand for local music, he focused more on the streets than he did in the studio. This eventually led up to him receiving a 24-year prison sentence with a mandatory minimum of 30% to do at the age of eighteen. Lyric was devastated and not prepared for what was to come, but he understood that there was no way out of it. Known as “Detroit” on the “rec yard”, he used this time to read, write, study, and learn everything he could about the music industry. With words that had more meaning now than they ever had, Lyric made up his mind to leave the street life alone and focus fully on music.

After doing his five year bid, Lyric October came home with a vengeance. Using all the knowledge that he had acquired, he started his own record label and film company, then released his first solo mixtape titled “Brick Fair 1”. Possessing a complete catalog of music titled “The Brick Fair Series”, Lyric October gained respect from the local music scene including local artists, music connoisseurs and local/national radio stations. In addition to that, it caught the attention of local magazine owners; Concrete Magazine, who decided that Lyric October might be worth a shot.

After winning the “Best Male Artist” award at the first annual 931 Awards on Saturday May,26 2012, Lyric was driven to prove this to be true.

With his notoriety growing in his area, Lyric October has showcased in every city in the middle Tennessee region. Like an act of martyrdom, he has won fans over everywhere he has performed. With the release of his third solo project confidently titled “No Fly Zone”, L.O. has no intentions of stopping anytime soon. It is evident that naysayers are in his path, Lyric has used this as fuel to his fire.

These days venting over a track seems to be the new genre of music. Confidently, Lyric October will bring a fusion of R&B, Soul, Classic Rock, and Hip-hop to intrigue his listeners.

The artist, Lyric October will deliver that and more, continuously hungry for success. The C.E.O of Haze Gang Music Group and the President of October Films prides himself on being lyrical and setting up clever rhyme schemes in his music. His talent lies in writing, singing and mastering the music he records. Respectively, this is one individual that proves that stage presence is a must in the music world.

Stay Tuned and Intrigued, Lyric October is up to bat!
