Lucci Shyst is CEO/Producer as well as an active artist under the label N. Da Street Muzik. At a time when rappers with a serious mentality were and still are few and far between in Milwaukee.
Born in Gary, IN, Andrew (Lucci Shyst) Robinson and his family moved to Milwaukee hoping for better opportunities. Lucci Shyst grew up on the likes of music artist such as, 2Pac, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Snoop Dog, N.W.A., Cash Money and No Limit Records.
Shyst spent most of his life living on the north side of Milwaukee with 4 siblings, who all attending Milwaukee Public Schools. Managing to keep a 3.5 GPA as well as get into quite a lot of trouble was easy for Lucci. While attending middle school, Lucci grew more into the rap/hip-hop scene, free stylin’ in the school’s hallway’s with his peers. He quickly adopted the title of one of the best rappers in school thanks to his fellow student body.
He began attending John Marshall High School in 1998. This point is when Shyst really decided on working to perfect his talents in rap/hip hop. He began to record with other artists from school, using tapes to record their work. Though his music career was beginning to advance, Shyst was not about to stay out of trouble with the law either. In 1999, at the age of 16, Lucci got locked up for charges of Possession with intent of Marijuana as well as being revocated for previous gun charges. He spent the next five years in the Wisconsin Prison System.
Upon being released from Portage in 2004, Shyst dove head first back into the Milwaukee rap scene. Fellow local artists, Paper Boy Records, created a studio for Lucci, which was up and running once he was released. This became a strong motivational inspiration for Lucci to push himself toward becoming a well known artist. Dreams were quickly shattered after many members of Paper Boy as well as many other local artists faced charges from the federal government. Though Lucci was not facing criminal charges, he no longer had a studio to record at or many of his fellow artists to collaborate with. In late 2005 he decided that he would create his own opportunities and decided to create his own label and studio, N. Da Street Muzik was born. At this point Shyst began looking toward family for help to further his rap dreams. He began to work more closely with cousins like Joe and Timmy Robinson, creating Robinson Boys Productions. Dedication, determination and discipline ran high as Robinson Boys Productions and N. Da Street Muzik began their long journey to accomplish their dreams of becoming serious artists in a town that wasn’t ready to take rap seriously.
This trio quickly gained popularity and respect from fellow artists in the community. Being one of the first and only serious… allowed them to broaden their ideas and include other artists in their push to make it to the top. Though Milwaukee was still not quite ready to include local rap in many clubs and bars, Lucci’s determination pushed him to create his own opportunities, paying his way into clubs to perform. Catching the eye of former Rap A Lot records producer 88 Keys, Lucci was then able to further his reputation as a serious rapper/producer in the local underground rap and hip hop community.
Though opportunities were still few and far between, Lucci’s continuing determination allowed him to keep trying to become known at any opportunity that arose. At this time many Paper Boy artists were released from the states custody and began working with Lucci as well as Robinson Boys Productions at N. Da Street Muzik studio’s.
Having their own building allowed N. Da Streets Muzik to show just how serious they were about becoming well known in the rap industry. Shyst began working closely with Swiss Money Magazine, formally known as Paper Boy Records. He was then given the chance to open for artists such as B. G. of Chopper City Records, Lil Jon, Pitbull, Young Bloods, Mullage as well as many others
