Bio

With a unique blend of expressive lyrics, smooth grooves and trap hip hop, Izzy Faye is ready to take the rap world by storm. Born in Atlanta, GA and raised on the east side of Detroit, MI, Izzy’s Senegalese roots naturally drew him to music as he began playing the drums at the age of six.  His talents as a percussionist led him to attend the prestigious Detroit School of Arts which boasts famous alumni including singers, Aaliyah and Teirra Marie. After graduating from DSA, Izzy attended Kentucky State University on a band scholarship and it was while he was at KSU that he realized that he wanted to quit school and pursue music full-time.

Coming back home to Detroit presented new challenges for the young rapper, family issues caused him to be homeless, yet more determined to achieve success in the music industry. He teamed up with local rapper and longtime friend, KULTURE and hired manager Aaron “DJ B-Easy” Beasley and the trio formed Joey’s Chicken Shack Records. Izzy began recording in a friend’s basement and two years later his first mixtape—The Ugly Truth was born.

With hits like Daily Routine, Hennerlude, and Woke Up, the project is an eclectic mix of smooth base lines and funky rhythms. The single “Poppin” was recorded at Chicago’s Classick Studios and gave Izzy the chance to work with one of his favorite singers, Jean Deaux.  The Ugly Truth was released in October and shortly thereafter, Izzy began a Midwest promo tour with rapper ILL VIBES and has opened for acts such as 2Chains and Lil Yachty. Izzy has performed in 25+ live shows in front of more than 10,000 people.

Tragically, three weeks after The Ugly Truth’s debut, Izzy’s manager Aaron “DJ B-Easy” Beasley was murdered. Despite that horrific, life changing incident, Izzy is forging ahead to accomplish the plans that he and his manager set forth.

In addition to his music, Izzy has expanded his brand to include fashion and currently serves as the brand ambassador for the Filthy Americans clothing line.  Influenced by the likes of Kanye West, Andre 3000, T-Pain, Kendrick Lamar and Dom Kennedy; Izzy’s style is comparable to none. His charismatic personality combined with an intoxicating stage presence showcases his innovative and refreshing sound.
