NJ is an R&B/Neo-Soul/Hip-Hop artist, Model and Make-Up Artist uprising out of Cincinnati, Ohio who developed a love for music and fashion at a very young age. From birth, NJ saw her parents deal with the highs and lows of the music industry allowing her to be around music minds 24/7. Cradling her own natural talent as a vocalist, NJ decided to join the church choir at the tender age of 7 and discovered immediately that music was her first love.
The wheels would not stop turning there. Soon came the beginning of NJ’s walk onto the modeling scene. In 1999, she began modeling and working with young groups and local organizations including Cincinnati’s “Urban Models”, “Diva Day Productions”, and “Fast Lane Models”. Eventually, NJ would turn to a freelance modeling career branching out all over the Midwest to work with several agencies, designers, and photographers not short of the renowned Clatties Moorer, Columbus’ Paul Ferrera, and Budweiser. Recently, NJ has worked alongside Frank Lanzkie of CA, Calico Rosenberg of NY, POSH(4U) Fashion Boutique, Serket Jewelry, Chia Media Group, JusJoci Hair Gallery, CinciNaturals and Cincy Chic as a runway model, to name a few.
NJ owes her vocal style full of LOVE, SOUL, and PASSION to influences such as Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Karen Clark-Sheard, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Marsha Ambrosius and Beyonce Knowles. NJ has had the opportunity to open for national artists such as the Nappy Roots, the GZA of WuTang, Method Man & Redman, Joell Ortiz, Ghostface Killah, Freddie Gibbs, D12, Young Buck, Raekwon, and Talib Kweli in collaboration with Cincinnati’s own Vincent Vega, an upcoming MC. She has taken years of writing and growth to put out her first and long awaited album entitled “Different From The Rest”. This project will showcase NJ’s skills as a singer/songwriter and is destined to bring back REAL R&B…•
