D.M.G Music Group
debonair of a man : dressing and acting in an appealing and sophisticated way : fashionable, attractive, and confident
When you think of debonair you think of a classy suave man dressed in a suit. But what does this mean in hip hop? The trio “D.M.G,” owners of Debonair Music Group (D.M.G) has defined the hip hop definition of debonair. Once you get to know them you know they are smooth, carefree, urban, stylish and suave. Everything that the word represents.
Cameron “Cam Jones” Hubbard, Zachary “Pak Martino” Joseph and Jerryn “J. Debonair” Miller were childhood friends that always shared dreams of being entrepreneurs. The trio graduated high school and became roommates. They launched a multimedia company named Debonair Media Group. The company had several divisions that included hiring models, video cameras, photo shoots, and promoting entertainment events. “We were always finding ways to build our brand,” says Cam Jones. Music wasn’t the first division of the company on deck but Pak Martino and Cam started rapping as a group called Debonair Rakontur, rakonturis a style of storytelling. J. Debonair soon came from behind the scenes and did a song called “2 Shots of Henny” and their music careers took on a life of its own as D.M.G.
The trio are known for going in the studio and laying multiple quality tracks at a time. Their goal is to create music that has longevity. Surrounded by talented groups in Atlanta the group worked with top producers in the studio. Their work ethic did not go unnoticed, Zaytoven the producer for Gucci, 2 Chains, Migos, Usher and many other top artist saw the talent and began working with them in the studio. He was able to hone on the skills of each artist and bring what the trio calls “Fire” in the studio. The song called “Nada” was one of the songs that has expanded the trio’s listening audience. The single put them on the map in the Northside of Atlanta. The newest single “All Wanna Do” shows the group’s ability to have lyrical fun mixed with an enthralling beat from Zaytoven. The contagious hook makes you want to bounce to the beat, but what sets them apart from their peers is the lyrical content. “Count cash stack figures, focus on the bigger picture, stay away from…” well, you have to listen to the track. D.M.G went to high school with the Migos, the talent that came out of the school during their tenure is undeniable.
D.M.G ensures that their music is as diverse as their group. They have music made for the streets, strip club and music for the ladies. One song that the ladies love is “Choosin You,” it has smooth lyrics that make a woman feel appreciated. They also have a song that addresses domestic violence, D.M.G address issues that are going on in society. With all of the violence in the past few years Cam and his mother, who was the lead singer of the popular Mo Town R&B Group, “The Jones Girls” worked on a song together to address #blacklivesmatter. It’s a mother’s concern that her son can be racially profiled and hurt for no reason. D.M.G sing and rap, each artist brings a different flavor to the group. Cam has a gritty sound and the ability to create catchy hooks, Pak brings the storytelling to the group, and J. Debonair brings that energy like no other to the groups performances. They are very diverse, when asked to explain their diversity the response was: “there are six lanes on interstate 85 and we want to take on every lane, ALL OF THEM,” says Cam. Each group member is a separate artist and when they come together collective they have an undeniable chemistry that is evident in their music.
The Debonair entrepreneurs have not just stopped at music, digital media and entertainment event hosting, they have also launched a clothing line, and of course it’s called Debonair Clothing. Fashion is important to them and having their own line allows them the ability to create their own style. Their customer base for the clothing line extends from New York to Germany.
The initial response from “All I Wanna Do” made the group realize it is time to release to the masses. The single will release on iTunes, Amazon and other digital music sites in the Fall of 2015. We introduce to you the Debonair business men of hip hop.
