| Bio | MD grew up in a musical family, surrounded by instruments. He took to playing the drums in the 4th grade and instantly fell in love with percussion. He was in the school band and completely loved the way the brass instruments, woodwind and strings all blended together. With this love of instrumentation, he began listening to artists like James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Sly and the Family Stones and other soulful and instrument heavy music. Introduced to hip hop music in the 7th grade, he developed a love for the more organic and soul driven music. Once he discovered that the music he was drawn to was “sampled” meaning that parts are taken from other tracks and made into a newer sound, he was introduced to crate digging. As he listened to hip hop heavyweights like Primo, Dilla, Alchemist, and Pete Rock his desire to do the same with his spin grew and grew. Now that he is able to create his own music, he considers himself as more of a composer than a producer. “I like for the artist to take one of my beats, and put their own spin on it. I don’t want them to take the track and the structure that I put it in and just go over top of it. To me that is not what I am interested in. I like the self expression and creative interchange.” Listen to the music, give feedback and if you want to work with MD, contact him. |
