Biography
“Wow”! That’s the one word people use after watching a Sterling performance. The young upcoming star makes it special every time he gets on stage bringing entertainment to each show. He acts out the emotion that is brought to each song through his vocals. Following in the footsteps of those who influence him: Names like Bobby Brown, Michael Jackson, Prince, Ralph Tresvent, and the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown.
Before Sterling was old enough to apply for a job, he and three other boys from his elementary school formed a quartet in his hometown of Newport News, Virginia. Knowing that music was the way that his legend would be born, Sterling continued his desire even after the quartet disbanded. He has still yet to be satisfied and began to perform as a singer and dancer. Sterling created a dance group called N’famous in 2002 that performed on the national showcase Showtime at the Apollo during the summer of 2005. That very performance would be a stepping-stone for Sterling as a pop star. After that show there was a significant change in the audience appeal to Sterling and his N’famous dance team due to Sterling’s powerful voice and the impressive choreography. After high school Sterling began performing as an opening act for the neo soul group Brothers Keeper, comprised of members from the Norfolk base jazz band called, Seed Is…. Do to this experience Sterling’s voice has taken on the added dimension of live acoustic sound adding a pop to his rhythm and rich tone to his singing voice.
