Run-D.M.C. to Receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award

Iconic rap trio Run-D.M.C. will be honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award this year, the Recording Academy announced Wednesday (Jan. 13).

The Queens-bred group — comprised of Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Joseph “Reverend Run” Simmons and the late Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell — will join a host of legendary recipients including R&B veteran Ruth Brown, Latin legend Celia Cruz, popular funk band Earth, Wind & Fire, jazz icon Herbie Hancock, counterculture rock act Jefferson Airplane and pop sensation Linda Ronstadt.
