Amazon Instant has now recruited Spike Lee for a movie aptly titled Chiraq, to give an inside look at the city of Chicago. The film is set to star the likes of Kanye West and Common, with Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Piven. No details on the film’s plot have been revealed and there are no deals in place as of yet

Sounds good! BUT… (long pause for thought processing) When it comes to revenues its interesting how truth and authenticity about people are tossed aside. Hidden agendas dictate the content that shows up in final cinematic cuts these days. The current trends in the film industry reveal a lot of selling short of the elements of true contributions of true native born black americans. The other question coming to mind is how much obligation is there to tell our stories by these producers? Chicago was a black settlement long before the USA came to be. Musically it is a cradle and a melting pot. I’ll be watching. I got original tunes for Spike and company if I can get heard.
