Apple unveils new MacBook Airs with huge battery life: 11 inch, 9 hours, 13 inch 12 hours

A new version of the MacBook Air is coming. At the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference, it was revealed that the new device would have faster graphic experience and has a better battery life with Haswell from 5 hours to 9 hours of battery life on the 11-inch. The 13-inch goes from 7 hours to 12 hours.

How stark of an update is this new version? Well you be the judge of that as the last time it received an update was last June with the addition of the 3rd generation Ivy Bridge, up to 8GB of RAM 1600Mhz, faster graphics and hard drive, and more.

The updated Macbook Air computers comes with 802.11 AC Wifi with 3 times faster support. Apple has also introduced new Airport Base Stations with a fresh new design. Phil Schiller says that the new Airport and Time Capsule models are new as well.

Releasing a new product contradicts what Apple’s CEO Tim Cook suggested this April during the company’s Q2 2013 earnings call, where he hinted nothing new would come in the fall: “Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software and services we can’t wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014.”

Unfortunately for some, the new Macbook Airs will not have retina displays, but will start shipping today, starting at $999 for 128GB. The 13 inch computer will start at $1,099 with 128GB.
