Gold Plated Luxury 1931 Leica Camera Auctioned for $683,000

A gold plated ‘Luxus’ Leica camera from 1931 with lizard leather covering and 2 lenses was auctioned for the crazy amount of $683.000 at an auction house in Vienna, Austria. Included were also rare photos snapped by the camera like the iconic shot of an American sailor kissing a nurse the day World War II ended. The camera formerly belonged to the well known German producer of sparkling wine Karl Henkell. Also other models by the famed German camera company Leica where sold for far higher prices than expected.
