JD what you’ve gotta do is deconstruct some of the better electro-pop songs…like the Britney Spears ones…replace the icey chords with warm, real brass, and replace the weak heavy on the high-end drum pads with real drums or KNOCKING atmospheric synths.

Or just have her do organic soul/r&b rooted in pop, like everything on her Unplugged record.

But it’s IMPERATIVE that you use the Eventide 2016 reverb on her big vocals — if you don’t use it to create that magical wall of sound she had on Merry Christmas (I) and Daydream, Phil Tan will take the vocal stem, use the default digidesign reverb, and make her sound dry and lost in the mix. She’s gotta get that out of this world reverb back — long delays aren’t necessary, but the Eventide fits Mariah’s vocals like a glove.

People want to hear her SANGIN again. She can also totally improve on Adele’s whole soul/pop thing because she has a better voice and a better knack for writing melodies…and being happier in general. But you GOTTA get back that wall of sound. People absolutely love that. It was omnipresent on all of her records up until Rainbow, and as we see year and year again, people are still in love with the original “All I Want For Christmas.” Get that insane reverb! It brings out all of her pristine highs and beautifully dark lows.
