  1. I heard Jay-Z explain this exact topic the best. He explained that you have to think about where these men or women came from. They have been doing certain things, whether dumb or illegal, for most of their lives. They have only had “money” for a few months or a few years. So it’s hard to change the mindset of a man whose been in the streets for 18+ years just because you upgraded his lifestyle 3 years ago. How many times have you heard a star say that they haven’t changed, they’re still the same person from such and such block, or that they even still live in the area in which they grew up in? A mentality that you’ve had and acted out for most of your life is hard for some people to change overnight if ever.

Today’s society doesn’t invest like we should and most people tend not to save. I did a study on this when I was in school and maybe 10% of the people had a savings or money market acct. Most people do not, because they know not. We are uneducated in so many areas that we depend on others to take care of it, and everyone doesnt always have our best interest. Now on to the buffonery going on. Its just pure ignance, yes, IGNANCE. The last time I checked jail wasnt the place to be. Maybe I missed the memo. Its really sad.

  5. Now in days people lack leadership, even with the recent induction of America’s first black president (Much Respect) people still seem to not have someone to follow as did back in the days. See I’m 19, born in 1990 but I am very in tune with music so I can kinda give my opinion accurately. For example, in the ’90s people had substance, whether it was from Puff & Bad Boy, Jay-Z & Roca Fella, J.D. & So So Def, or Russell & Def Jam. Back then we had music that could be felt and realted to, we had actually HOT trends. Like I remember as a young boy watching videos and seeing BIG’s “Mo Money Mo Problems” video and saying “I Wanna Be Like Them When I Get Older” or Seeing J.D. & Hov racing up the highway back to back in the Ferrari & Porsche with the goggle’s! Those were the days when people had the freedom to be like “Yo Them Dudes Is Hot” Now its like everybody hating on one another and trying they best not to see nobody do they thing… remember Radio Raheem’s story of LOVE & HATE from Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing” this generation and those coming are doomed because they have no one they consider “cool” enough to idolize so they look up to the ones that don’t have their best interest at heart so its gonna be a never ending cycle unless we offer them something different!

    I come from a place where you couldn’t even step out your door without looking both ways first…..moving to GA was life changing and just because the environment changed didn’t mean my way of thinking did. I’ve been here 3 years and can honestly say that I had to change more than my surroundings did and that’s because my priorities had to change!!!! It’s a process just like going from crawling to walking……..some people grab a hold to it quicker than others. That doesn’t mean that the folks who are making these decisions are dumb….they just handling the situation with what they are used to getting away with!!!!!!!

MY personal opinion when athletes, rap/r&b stars get money they all of a sudden get the SUPERMAN syndrome and feel like they have an S on their chest and they cannot be touched and they are above the law and the rules of the land. It seems like when they get money that’s when they start thinking like individuals that don’t have money, there is no reason in hell why celebrities should be walking around with any type of weapon PERIOD. If you have all that so called money hire one of your home boys or not ,get him trained to be a body guard and let him watch your back the legal way, but that’s too much like right – but on the other hand can we really be mad at them? If a person comes from nothing and gets a lot all of a sudden and the and everyone is gassing them up saying hell yea do it/get it /take it/ buy it and they don’t have that person(s) saying hold it/invest it/ save it etc. that’s self destruction all of a sudden then they want people walk around with T-shirts that read FREE ME

  9. I feel you j.d. your not the only one whos buggin out over this stuff lately. Im 22 years old myself and ive always made it up in my mind that i wanted a career in sports of some sort. Not knowing i would get it but i worked towards it through college and i became a web designer for a sports memorabilia company. I grew up in multiple rough neighborhoods and i never knew anyone who wanted to be a gangsta. They did it because they had to to survive. I had cousins who were into that life style and they would always me dont do anything stupid cuz, your smart enough to go school and be whatever you wanna be. Which makes me think where’s these guys influences coming from? If i bring a gun to work im gonna be bagging groceries the rest of my life! Its like i heard T.I. say “Being smart and successful doesnt make you a punk and being stupid doesnt make you a gangsta.”

  12. When people don’t have money, they wish for it so bad. They always say,”If I get money, I am going to buy this or that” And when they do get it, they buy it for themselves and everyone else. But who is everyone else? Like some of the entertainers, say for instance Hammer, he had tooooo many people in his entourage. What was all of those people getting paid for? I mean really? Keep it simple, maybe an assistant and a few others, but not someone to hold your brush, or put on your left shoe and someone to put on your right shoe, and get paid big for it. Just because you know a lot of people who are umemployed, you can’t employ everyone. And it could be that they want to hook people up so they won’t be mad at them. Your friends are suppose to be happy for your success, not jealous of it. I use to have a best friend, we were so close, but now we are not as close as we use to be. I got married and then 3 years later she got married. Her husband was a dog and treated her bad, mine was not. Her marriage ended in Divorce. Mine did not. We are still together after 17 years of marriage. WE started off in a one bedroom apartment and with a lot of work and getting good jobs, today we live in a beautiful home away from the city and drive really nice cars. The reason I lost my friends is because she is jealous of me. WHY??? I thought your friends are suppose to be happy for you. So what I am saying is , you can’t please everyone, just be you and live your life and then you will know who your TRUE friends are.

    It’s ignorance, frustration, stupidity, rage/anger, the feeling of being above the law and anyone else for that matter.
    More than often, a lot of people don’t think before they act. They realise what they have done and the extent of the damage they have caused, after they have committed the act and been caught.

    Unfortunately, for others, they never realise the wrong they have committed and continue to do wrong at whatever expense. Case in point, Lil’ Wayne. That man has been caught a number of times for drug and firearms possession, yet he kept doing it. It’s either he cannot learn, or he just can’t be bothered. I think it’s the latter, because he knew that after every time he was arrested, he managed to get off free.

The fact of that matter is the world owes you nothing and you’ll get just that if you dont not become aware of your surroundings and actions.     What ur saying/ what Jay-Z said is true BUT….when these same people didn’t have the extra $$$ & the contracts,etc they were doin their dumb shit & grew eyes in the back of their heads. True, sometimes they still ended up getting caught but at least they were more cautious about it. I think that part of the problem is that these entertainers and athletes get a little too cocky with their shit, like they don’t realize that there are thousands of extra eyes watching them…which means THOUSANDS of more opportunities for their stupid asses to get caught! Maybe if they acted with a little more sense, even if they still have the same mentality, or surrounded themselves with people that will tell them when they’re getting out of order things wouldn’t be popping off the way they are for them.

The scariest and the most intimidating thing the “world” does not want to see is an educated black man with a true sense of self.   28. As far as the NBA is concern there was a time when the players had someone they looked up to like Patrick Ewing, Majic Johnson and Dr. J, now all they want is self glory. There was a time when being in the NBA was a priviledge and not a right and you had to have a certain work ethic, you practiced your craft in the off season. Now all they are concerned with is who gets the largest contract. I find that is a shame now that they want to go straight from high school into the pros, playing in college a dofferent view because you now see other teams form different areas and how they do things . Some of these people have never been outside their own neighborhood which limits their outlook on certain aspects of life.

This is coming from a young listener of music…music to me is going down hill because the people who claim that being in the music industry was their dream lose sight of that dream and start becoming what everyone wants them to be or who they feel people will like better. The money and the fame can’t but your happiness because at the end of the day it’s yourself you have to stare at in the mirror, on the tv, or whereever you see you and realize what message you are sending out to everyone. I really hope 2010 brings about some great things because I’m bored with music not only in r&b and hiphop but with rock, classical…anything its all the same. New Game plan and a new humble attitude with some real talent and meaning could get this music biz on a new start….ON MY MOMMA!

The thing with Gilbert is that he says he took them out the house from his kids went to the locker room pulled them out now I watch ESPN all the time what I heard was that the other guy took his out put a bullet in it and cocked it back we aint here nothing about him and they going to try and put Gilbert in jail cause the guns were not registered and he wasnt suppose to bring it. But these stars want to be thugs this world is all the same cause then you got kids looking up to them thinking it’s so cool when it’s ugly and then the parent allows it.     Some of these people are crazy having breakdowns on the cpu and beefing with other celebrities.
