man JD he is right, R&B came from Church and I don’t see why we can’t made R&B music. all though the message that you put behind your music has something to do with it. but music as a whole is not bad. it’s what people, who words that are not meaning make the music bad. I love God and I love the Music he gave me.

I feel as though people who say you cannot sing and listen to secular music and be saved and go to church on sunday are so closed-minded. When you truly love music, you connect with all types of music. Listening to R&B doesn’t mean you dont love God. Now, if the music you are listening to is making you feel a “certain” type of way and making you react in ways you don’t want to, thats different. I love all types of music and will continue to listen to the sexiest R&B to the hardest Rap and Rock. Its an indivdual choice. But one thing I do know is that I will not be listening to Shirley Ceaser or Mary Mary during a romantic night. Some people just need to chill, and realize what they are saying and stop being so judgemental. If they were really following Jesus, they would look at his example and see he talked to the prostitutes and drunkards to help them instead of avoiding everyone because they are not like you. Lastly today’s gospel music is weak and doesn’t give you much to listen to. All music has different meaning, said to say I can relate more to T.I. and John Legend and get more meaning out of their songs that most of these new gospel songs.

I believe it’s possible to sing secular on Saturday and praise God on Sunday…as long as the context of your song is respectful. If you singing about love, relationships and real life issues and doing it in clean and respectable manner, then what’s the problem?! He is using the gift God gave him and he’s doing it in the way that God has touched his heart to do…can’t no man tell him what God’s calling is for his life.

This topic is a grey area because I think that there is no right or wrong answer, it all depends on your place of worship. 90% of my family are deep in the church, ministers and Pastor’s, Deacon’s, etc… some of them are members of churches that view all things that don’t pertain to religion as “worldly” and frown upon it and that includes R&B, going to the movies, etc. Then the main church, where my cousin is the Pastor goes as far as incorporating R&B music & hip-hop music & dance into their youth Praise Team.
At the end of the day only GOD will determine whether he is pleased with the way we carry ourselves inside and outside of church & that includes whether we use our voices to simply praise him or delve into other genres of music as well.

I was raised in the church and saw all kinds of things go on with church people I mean not only sin but jailable stuff by church members so I don’t pay them any attention.

I see nothing thing wrong with praising the lord on any given day and if you like R&B you like it just like the preacher said when he does romance its a love song not a church song

Some feel if you’re in church you’re not supposed to be anywhere else I don’t agree

To me, this is what it all boils down too,

If we look at the bible, the bible has an entire where King Solomon, the same person who asked God for Wisdom, discussed and talked about Love to his wife in Songs of Solomon. Now as a Christian I strongly believe that the Bible is there to teach us how to live and to be closer to God, which means that the entire bible including Songs of Solomon is needed in order for me to be closer to God. Love is from God and therefore if we are Christians there shouldn’t be a problem discussing all aspects of Love from a pure standpoint, which is what PJ has done from jump. Any other Christian that thinks otherwise need to do their research, cuz PJ has been keeping pure and relatable from day 1. Just my 2 cents, if we want to be real, there are a lot more crazier stuff that church folk due, so before passing judgement, let us allow God to decide what is good from whats not

There is NO WAY that God can give a man like Stevie Wonder all of that talent and the heavenly gift of creating music and beautiful lyric and be displeased because it is not church music. I don’t buy Tye’s music, but I do buy Yolanda Adams, Kierra Sheard, and Mary Mary faithfully. I love them as much as I love Aretha (a church girl), Natalie and Gladys. I do not buy cds I can’t play around my family unless it is edited. Most of the time though if it is vulgar (i.e., Li’l Wayne) I don’t buy it. R. Kelly (Mr. “My mind’s telling me know but my body ‘s telling me yes’) does not get my money for obvious reasons.

Other than that, I believe that God blesses men and women with the gift to reach people with song and if people are nasty that is what comes off in their music. Music is spiritual. Have you ever listened to a gospel song or looked at some of the covers of gospel artists that try to be like an R&B artist? I am not talking about the songs like “It’s the God in Me”. I am talking about a real attempt to sound like a “secular artist”. The music sounds like it is supposed to be a song for making love. I don’t know how to say it, but sometimes, I listen to a lot of Gospel and the thought has come across my mind ‘now they know that this was not inspired by God’. The music is all extra slow and the mood is just steamy. The whole feel of the song just comes off sexual. Anyway….I am probably not making sense at all. lol I have one cd and the guy looks like an R&B singer. He is iced out and the first thing I thought was hmm… now, this is interesting cover for a gospel singer–not reverent-lookiing at all. lol Then I played his cd and the songs and the style of his writing was more like R. Kelly. It just seemed like more of an attempt to make his music commerical rather than write because he was spiritually inspired for the purpose of spreading God’s biblical messages.

I know plenty of church singers/musicians who are thieves, liars, club-goers, heavy drinkers, adulterers, and drug users Monday-Saturday and on Sunday they go to work in the church. We all do. People are not perfect, but some people are trifling. It is just a job to them and they know how to talk the talk, but they are NOT walking the walk and a lot of people know it.

I will buy a beautiful love song by any kind of artist in a minute. I don’t care if it is gospel, country or R&B. Love was created by God. Music is a gift from God and I love all three (Love, Music, God).

OUR PURPOSE AS CHILDREN OF, GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRT IS TO TELL THE PERSON WHO DOES NOT KNOW GOD WHO HE IS. I FEEL THAT WE AS SAVED FOLKS HAVE LOST TOUCH WITH OUR PUPOSE. I WAS MARRIED AND LOVED MY WIFE. BUT I LOVED ONLY HER AND I DID HAVE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC SOULCHILD OR ANY OTHER ARTIST BECAUSE GOD GAVE ME HER AND GOD INSTALLED THE LOVE THAT WE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER, SO IF UR FAITH IS STRONG THEN THERE IS NO NEED FOR A HELP BY A MAN WHO IS NOT SINGING ABOUT THE SAVIOR WHO PRODUCED THE LOVE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP. BECAUSE REST ASSURE THAT THERE WILL BE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT USE THE SECULAR SONGS THE WAY WE AS CHRISTIANS WOULD. AND AS A ARTIST THE MESSAGE U PORTRAY WILL BE SENT OUT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE AND CAN PRODUCE DEMONIC THOUGHTS AMOUNG OTHER PERSONS AND THER RELATIONSHIPS. I SING GOSPEL MUSIC AND I LOVE MUSIC, BUT THE LYRICS OF SECULAR SONGS, I BELIVE CONVICE FORNICATION, HOMOSEXUAL THOUGHTS, AND SINFUL INTENTIONS. I PRAY THAT WE AS CHRISTIANS LEARN TO CONTINUE TO STAY FOCUSED ON HE WHO SITS HIGH AND THE CREATOR OF THE UNVIVERSE, AND REMEBER THAT WHEN WE GET TO HEAVEN THE WILL BE ONLY ONE SONG SANG…………………TO GOD BE THE GLORY………………………………..

The BIBLE says you can’t serve two masters. Not Tye Tribbett! The Bible also says it’s one who compares themselves with men is unwise. So whether or not Tye Tribbett sins is not the point. God called for sanctification, holiness, righteousness, etc. Plain and simple. God never accepted anything other than what he required in the Bible and he hasn’t changed.

I am proclaiming to be anything but one must ask the question, when god spoke, jesus committed his actions for the words display so that it may be recorded are we sure we got the whole picture. Or did we just look at the picture and took it at face value. John 9 jesus and his disciples were sitting and the publicans and sinners sat with them. Right there you have to realize we as born again christians spend to much time trying to fit in with the world instead of the world being drawn to you. Remember many are called but few chosen. Then listening to the music you can say what u want most babies are made off of music whether r-kelly, avant, tank whoever “BUT” if you aint married shouldn’t no babies be being mand no way. So when you listen to this music there is some power cause there is a result so you have be careful cause lucifer, son of the morning star was the chief head of all things music. So its ok to listen to rappers who call themselves j-hova, with songs like lucifer,talking bout death but its ok cause I love music. Satan loves that you love music. Check this out satan so smooth he had a genre of music come out I believe geared directly to almost every church musician. “NEO-SOUL” and you know what these peoples belifs are that make this music. The 5%,Islam,black muslims,buddist,(notice I never said christians. So we do our music to honor god and bring honor to our god. They say “I first like to thank “GOD”, u think they talking bout jesus.
