  2. OMG I can hear the Janet fans stampeding towards their PC’s! First and foremost, no matter how you guys feel this isn’t a remake. It’s a flip just like JD titled it. You can’t knock her bravery masked as creativity because as an artist, she went out on a limb. But, most artists put a nail in their own coffin by trying to alter an original. There are numerous artists who just can’t be touched. Janet, mariah, Whitney, Marvin, Michael, Diana, Temptations; these are originals who have captivated their genre’s. You can use them as influences, BUT YOU CAN NOT DUPLICATE THEM! You can’t sample them in your songs because the people listening will ALWAYS compare you to the original. Why do you think movies based on tv shows always fail? lol

    The “give me a beat” line was overused which made her song practically annoying. I liked the way the twirked the instrumental though.

  37. I did not think it was as bad as everyone is claiming. She is obviously paying homage to Janet. I did not think her flow was that bad (of course, I am not a rapper or a music critic). She reminded me of Li’l Momma–probably her demeanor. I actually laughed at some of the humor. It was good for what she had to work with as an unknown artist. I give her credit for completing a song and video and putting it out there. You gotta start somewhere.

  44. As a fan who has the whole catalog of Janet Jackson and who listens to her religiously, I have to say that I am insulted by the video. First of all, she ruined the song completely. She did not sample the amazingly entertaining parts of the song. Sampling the intro “Give me a beat” and then a part of the chorus “Oh you nasty boys” does not make me any happier. She completely murdered the song (NOT IN A GOOD WAY), and then has the audacity to say that it is a flipped version…umm, NO! I could not even finish watching the video because it looks so much like a joke. The video production looks like she spent $20 on it, by using a digital camera or a video camera that she had in her closet. And also, the more and more I watched the video, the more and more I felt like it was a rip-off of Keri Hilson’s video “Turnin’ Me On,” which makes me shake my head even more! This is just a disaster all around, and I must say, all Janet fans should be shaking their heads because in the famous words of IntyNational, “THAT AIN’T IT!”

  56. i like it but i don’t like it. i like it cause she samples janet. but i don’t like it for the same reason. the first two seconds had promise. but then i feel like the beat was doing too much. and not too much like maybe Jay-Z’s DOA that calms down and you can vibe too and you end up getting it. but too much like a seven year old with ADHD and no ritalin or anything to bring them down (not that i promote drugging kids but you understand my point).

    if anything this could’ve been like on janet’s greatest hits but then if it was i would probably give her the side eye like she bumped her head.

I see this video was on a budget so it’s not up there with Janet videos. It’s hard to make a classic song turn into something of your own. I applaud her effort but they need to go back to the drawing board on this one. Sorry, JD

  71. This was done on an ill low budget and I liked the effort! It’s easy to criticize but homegirl was being creative and paying homage. We know there’s only one janet but if Ciara can do the same thing with lots of budget, why can’t this girl shine? For a $10 dollar budget, it was creative and cute…

  84. Listened to this earlier and was like hell naw right off the back! I’m a long time Jan fan and in general I’m not really trying 2 hear anybody remake her shit! Especially the classics…Phuck that! But then I just listened again and it didn’t hurt my ears like the 1st time. The only thing I was really put off by was the repetitive use of “gimme a beat”, otherwise I can’t hate. It’s actually somewhat creative to me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s a hit but artistically, I think it’s creative. I give Deena her props for doing her thing and chasing her dream. I’m not mad at her. It’s nice to see yet another generation pay homage. Janet is the shit to me and her work lives on because of the quality and the content!

    1st I want to start off buy thanking JD for putting my video up on this site an allowing me to get more recognition! I apologize for everyone feelings but to be honest this song was meant for my generation and not for ppl that’s been janets fans for 10 and 20 years. I wanted to pay homage to one of the greatest pop singers and atthe same time introduce my generation and fans to songs like Nasty boy and pleasure principle. I grew up in a household where my mom played nothing but music from her time ppl like janet, Michael, Diana Ross, Stephanie Mills, Eddie Kendricks and the list goes on, but I have friends and fans that this music is foreign to them so I wanted to bring it into their world in a way they would understand it in hopes that they’ll do reasearch n get to know them and I did. this was meant to reach 15-24 and it has It was never meant to offend I love janet and I listen to control as if it was just released. Once again I appreciate and respect everyones comments and views and wanted to say Thank you hopefully you don’t hold it against me and stay tuned for more! =D

Furthermore I’m from NYC and we have a thing going on where all the kids are into this huge dance scene kind of like in the 80’s but with their own style and twist this song was meant for that. And now bcaz of this song they know about the control album, these are the same kids that didn’t know what song I was talking about when I’d meantion pleasure principle, these are the same kids that at one point thought a classic song was something that came out in 2003. 🙂
