in no particular order and this is just based off of my opinion.

    1.Outkast -Aquemini
(defined the definition of “next level” in rap music)

    Outkast-Southernplayalisticadillacmuzi
(proved southern rappers were equipped with word play, and was the basic blueprint for lyricism to aspiring mcs south of the mason Dixon line.)

    2.Devin the dude- the dude
(proved simple is better and rappers can still be gangster and melodic at the same time.)

    3.Trick Daddy-thugs are us
(this album was too damn good to overlook.a great album.)

    4.Jermaine Dupri-1472
(This album is the definition of good music from start to finish.)

    5.Lil Wayne-the carter 3
(when an artist is at the top of his game and has the most anticipated album in years waiting to hit the streets ,the critics are waiting in line with roses to throw on the grave of your rap career if you miss the mark even by inches.Lil Wayne not only hit his target but created a masterpiece and a classic that will stand the test of time.)

    6.Juvenile-400 degrees
(this album was 400 degrees of straight fire)

7.Scarface-(all of his albums are good,he is too the south what Rakim is the north)

8.UGK-(Also all of thier albums.Any artist that can get on a track with Jay Z and hold their own are definitely above average and they are one of the South’s most celebrated legends.)

    9.T.I. ti vs tip
(when they call you the king of the south theirs a reason for that, bought 2 copies of that album.)

    10 Goodie Mob-Soul Food
(this album started a lot of rap trends in the south as far as lyrical styles go.)

    also
    LUDACRIS
    YOUNG Jeezy
Eight Ball & MJG all get a mention as well

  41. mrggfep says
    26 Sep 09, 10:38pm

My list consists mostly of music that I can listen to from beginning to end 5-10 years later and still play it loud with my windows down and feel good about it. There are a couple albums with a flaky song here or there, but the core of the album more than makes up for the weak track or two. There are some good CDs that have come out in the last 2-3 years but that’s too new for me to give them the stamp of classic… with the exception of “UGK for Life”.

    In no particular order:

+Project Pat – Layin’ da Smack Down
    +Playa Fly – Fly Shit
    +OutKast- Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
    +Goodie Mob – Soul Food

    +Outkast- Atliens
    +Outkast- Aquemini
    +Juvenile – 400 Degreez
    +Juvenile – Tha G-Code
+8 Ball & MJG-On top of the World
+8 Ball & MJG – Comin’ Out Hard
    +TRU-True to the game
+Youngbloodz – toss up between “Against da Grain ” and “Drankin’ Patnaz” One of them is a classic, probably not both… LoL

+++++ maybe Lil Wayne – The Carter 3 will make the list in a year or two******

I ‘m gonna stop now I will give ya’ll some time to check google and wikipedia to learn about some of the names I just dropped.. LoL

Three main factors matter for an album to be considered the best:
    1. music quality 2. its weight in the streets at time of release 3. soundscan, mainstream, crossover success

You is talkin bout the whole South, no particular southern area. With that said in no particular order:

    1. Ridin’ Dirty
    2. Soul Food or Still Standing? (take your pick)
    3. Comin’ out Hard or Outside Lookin In? (take your pick)
