I WANNA COMMEND RAE ON HIS RELEASE AND DEBUT NUMBER OF 65,000. I HATE TALKING ABOUT FIRST WEEK NUMBERS BUT I HAVE TO ON THIS ONE. HE DID WHAT THE MAJORS ARE FORGETTING, CATER TO YOUR FANS. I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I LIVE IN A CITY WHERE EVERYBODY THINKS ITS ABOUT GETTING ON THE RADIO AND BEING PLAYED IN THE CLUBS IRONICALLY HE LIVES HERE TOO. I NEVER HEARD HIS RECORD ON THE RADIO 1 TIME. HE STILL OUTSOLD NIGGAS I KNOW WHO HAD NUMBER 1s BEFORE THERE ALBUM CAME OUT, NIGGAS THAT HAD 2 SINGLES BEFORE THERE ALBUM CAME OUT ECT………. SO YOU GOTTA ASK YOURSELF WHAT DID HE DO? WHAT WAS HIS PLAN? WHERE DID HE GO?

  1. Raekwon is an artist as well as a legend and he took the time to go state to state ,city to city to do instores and radio spots.
    he reached out to the people and the people responded.
    plus the album is really good.

  10. Raekwon’s album is dope, it takes me right back to 90’s hip hop. I like Jay Z, but I heard someone make the statement. Raekwon didn’t need to make a track about the fact that autotune is wack, he just made an album that reminded us of that fact. Jigga’s album is good as well, so I’m not hating, but just observing.

  11. Raekwon did exactly what he should linked up with some well known as well as some best keep secrete producers. In addition, like my man said he put in work, bringing his product to every city, hood, state etc. In addition, he has always been a respected Artist, and with that legacy alone will have all the REAL heads anticipating the release. Amazingly he made those numbers without any major links. I respect the way he took time away to focus on what he needed to do. Bravo, Brav fuckin O! I guess its like the old African Proverb “A wiseman listens while a fool speaks”! So he let all the overnight celebrities do they thing, and then he struck!

  16. Raekwon has a certain size fan base that he is going to be able to sell to no matter what just like Janet or Mariah. Jadakiss did the same thing. The question is can Raekwon go gold. I lot of cats like Raekwon should be independent now. If Jay-Z does more than 2 million US and 4 million worldwide. I will be surprised. I think the days of niggas building empires off the rap thing is over. The whole game is going back to when kats was happy to do 250,000 or really happy just to go gold. I mean look at Insane Clown Posse. They did Raekwon numbers and they are independent.

    JD you should check to see what people that are just on Youtube are doing. Check on Boyce Avenue and Lisa Lavie. It would interesting to see how they did with just Youtube promotion with no radio or even a presence outside of Youtube.

  17. smooth rae is independent if you bought the cd which i did and flip it over you will see what label he is on his own. rae got a fanbase couple with it actually being a good album. plus rae hitting the gutter to promote his album grass roots and the web. he just did a video for catalina in the a which is one of the doctor dre tracks and i think it can get play at radio and if it does this album will reach gold

  25. I’ll tell you what he did (at least in NYC). He made himself available to the public and made another classic album. There were several events here in NYC for Only Built for Cuban Links II the weeks prior to the album dropping and he was in the streets promoting his ass off. Hats off to Rae, he’s doing the damn thing!!!

  26. Big up to The Chef..Hard work pays off as they say! Btw on october 10th The Chef is coming to europe, Antwerp to be specific..a lot of artists don’t even know where that is lol. The only city they know is Amsterdam hehe shhh..That’s my question like how serious are you when it comes to making music, selling records, giving back to your fans…I mean we love new york but the artists should take a look at the map..if you talk hiphop fans..loyal fans…ur talking european fans…

  27. When you know and stick to who you are the people that respect you and your decisions will follow you to the end of the road. That is true in music and in life in general. The real fans are going to hold you down. Not the people that feel like you aint doing nothing unless you are all blowed up in the blogs and TV all the time. Your real fans are going to pick up what you put out! Come to the shows when you step out! Follow you on the internet when you change your twitter page! Thats when you start to see who your friends are. I want friends not fans. Rae sold 65,000 albums to his friends! Not Fans! Fans praise you when your on top and curse you when you are the underdog!

  33. Im not trying to hate!!! so dont get me wrong!! I like Rae!! and further more i respect his talent. But people have been waiting for this…. waiting to hear him again… and if people arent happy with it…. he will fall by the way side. “Loyal fan base” someone said… his fan base has been loyal so far… as in.. they got this CD… because they wanted to hear him again. But it all depends on if they are happy with it!! I… personally… would judge on his next CD sales!! Its been too long inbetween. People might have taken a chance just to see!! But again.. I hope his next cd does triple that. He said puff wanted to sign him… hopefully everything works out for the best for him!! Im just point out facts!!

    compair it to like… DMX… everyone wants to see if he can rekindle that flame… get back at it… so if his cd comes out.. it MIGHT do ok… but if he doesnt do anything that lives up to the money he’s charging… IF he tries again… it wouldbe lights out!!
