A lot also comes from how they feel about YOU JD, which at the end of the day is nothing more than WORTHLESS HATE as well. I just feel the title of “Copycats” is exaggerated for this topic, i wouldnt consider Ciara, Beyonce, Cassie and all them copycats if they pay hommage to the great Janet. From what i can remember i always here one of those artist mention her when it comes to their inspirations. She’s paved the way for many, and like JD said about the whole RUN DMC thing..”people in the rap industry dont have anybody to look up to anymore” (or something similar to that) Well the R&B industry does, and if we really wanna be specific, singers who do R&B who are females, really do…&thats JANET JACKSON..case closed.

As I watched the videos I remembered each thing and I so could not believe that, that many people have redone everything that she has done, but the sad thing about is that the new generation doesn’t know that it has been done before so when they see a Ciara or a Beyonce do it they think it is hot, not knowing that Janet did it long before there time and it was even hotter then because it was original

All these women have a long way to go to even get near JJ’s level and that includes the already very successful Beyonce!   30. This is a great video and all but I’m just gonna have to keep it real. I love Janet and I would love to see her in concert and for her to record another album. But I’m just gonna have to keep it real. Clearly, Ciara does copy Janet the most out of them all. Anyone can see that but I must say that she is good at what she does. Britney Spears is a superstar. Although one can argue that she copies Janet but i beg to differ. Cassie (Who????), Don’t nobody no this girl forreal. As far as Beyonce goes, she is a superstar. I hate when people try to act like Beyonce isn’t talented. To keep it all the way real, her vocal ability is better than all of them put together. In fact, Beyonce is a great performer herself and if i would compare her to someone it wouldn’t be Janet. Janet is my girl and all but her and beyonce are two different people that performer totally different. The thing that sets Beyonce apart from them all is that this girl can sing and so haters need to stop hating and quit actin like she is the reason janet isn’t getting the respect or publicity she deserves. As far as Copycats, everybody is influenced by someone, so everybody steals something from someone but the difference is that they make it their own. For instance, michael jackson copied james brown but he made it his own, janet, justin, usher, chris, and many more copied michael but they made it their own. Also, sampling other people’s music is just like being a copycat but some would argue it isn’t because they make it their own with a different twist.

    Basically, I love all of these artists and they are all talented and successful in their own right. People have been copying others that they are influenced by for decades. So, when people on here make comments like beyonce, britney, or ciara aint shit that is just plain bullshit. These young women are all talented and don’t nobody no what the lord as for them. Its not their fault that Janet isn’t whats poppin today in music but does that mean she isn’t talented or that she can’t be on top again. I love janet and i wish her the best but people need to quit hating on these other ladies especially, Beyonce. The people on her that are hating no got damn well Beyonce is talented and always will be. She just has something special about her that some just lack. I love Janet and i hope that you, Jd will help her give the world more of her music because she is dearly missed and to all the B Haters quit bashing Beyonce because you no you be the main ones singing her songs and the first ones to go to see her in Concert, so stop with all the dumb shit. It doesn’t bother me that they use her as an influence but what DOES bother me is like artists like Britney and Ciara who USED to state Janet as an influence everytime they were asked — the past four years or so they’ve been saying Madonna or some other irradical person been their biggest artistic inspiration. Janet and Michael happen to be some of the most sampled artist out there when it comes to alot of diffrent things including music, fashion, and dancing. It is a compliment in my opinon to the “The Best” when other’s try to imitate, but never can they duplicate! Janet is and will always be the Hottest female in the game and Michael is and will always be the hottest man in the game, that is why we see alot of there influences played out in the majority of all music and dance today. I could name 10 of the top of my head that wasn’t even mentioned in the copycat video. She is an innovator…feedback came out and look how many artists followed Robin Thick magic, Ciara. Beyonce talk smack about the Jackson’s …she didn’t mention the cheogr. for the crazy in love video…was once one of janets dancers. Britney OMG, here middle name might as well be Damita jo, cause the influence is crazy. If you look at britneys first video Baby one more time…straight jacked the moves from If. She has been in the business now decades and these female artists are imitating her and they might not even know it subconsciously..That is crazy but on the real I grew up to Janet and noone will ever replace her and her hard work, integrity, dedication and power she has on the music scene!!

  58. On Beyonce’s behalf, she credits Janet & Michael a great deal. And YES, she has talked about LaVelle Smith being her CHOREOGRAPHER. & how LAVELLE USED TO TO DANCE FOR JANET and how he also co-choreographed some of her videos. How he even co-choreographed “Scream” and worked for Michael on several of his tours and in his videos. She WANTS that flare Janet has/had in her videos. And she knows people notice it. I know you all seen the VMA’s when she did “Ring The Alarm”/and “Soldier” on the Destiny’s Child tour – those breakdowns were ALL Michael & Janet! In an interview after the VMA’s that year she even stated that her performance was “a shout out to greatest influences in her career”. Cause I know when I seen her bust out those moves I said to myself, “There goes Janet.”
    Beyonce has always and still does state the impact Janet has had on her career. All the dance trophies she has from competitions were from dancing to Janet’s songs LOL.

When I was in high school way back when we use to do all of Janet’s stuff on our pep team and cheerleading squad, we copied almost every video she did. We use to kill in competitions whenever we did a Janet routine. I remember our pep team did Pleasure Principle and we had to all do a back flip and be in sync. We practiced that one flip for a week just so everyone would land at the exact same time. Wow that’s crazy because the cheerleading squads here still use Janet’s stuff, just like all these artist are still using her stuff and for as long as Ms. Jackson keeps it going people will be using her stuff. I agree 110% with jmoore, she may be often imitated but no one will ever be able to do it like her, she is a true ICON!

  63. I’ve been saying this for years. “Give credit, where credit is due” If it wasn’t for Janet there would be no Britney, Christina, Jessica, Beyonce, Ciara, Mya (R.I.P Aaliyah) or anybody else. This woman has been my idol since I was 9 and no one has been able to take her place. She’s set the mark very high for these other artist to follow. Are any of these female artists in the Guinness book of world records? Probably not…after all these years I believe people have forgotten what all she has accomplished. Prior to the superbowl the media nohting on Janet but now it seems that’s all that people still care about. Honestly, does she really have anything else to prove in this industry. I would love to see some of the other female artists that will have a career just like hers. 20+ years in this business, I haven’t seen anyone else duplicate her success. No offense to any of the other artists, but just give credit where credit is due. Don’t pretend you or your choreographer have come up with these new dance moves when the Janet Jackson fans knows her choreograhpy. I don’t mean to be repetitve but give credit where credit is due. All artists get inspiration from the artists that have came before them but just give them the credit and respect that they deserve.

I went to Janet’s ROCK WITH YOU TOUR concert in Las Vegas and OMG I have never seen anyone perform 5000 percent like she does (I was a little upset to be the only one standing outside the venue and didn’t get a chance to meet her (that was the biggest bummer ever). However, I did meet two of the dancers that I begged to see if I could meet her (no go as usual). Anyway, my dream is to still meet her one day and let her know how much she influenced my life.   112. @ Spock. I bought Janet’s last album. Kissing ass is hardly synonymous with giving her props for what Janet has done in the music industry. I will agree with you that it’s definitely time for a “New Agenda”. Time to create a new mold for herself, get back musically to what made her unique to begin with without falling into the topical traps of R&B music. It can’t be simply “an album about love” anymore. Been there, done that. But here’s the problem, when Janet tries something new like the Feedback vid, we don’t like it cause she’s not dancing enough. OR when she gives us what we want based on what’s hot at the time–more dancing, more collabs, more street–critics say she’s too old to be acting like a 20 yr old. But it’s cool for Maddy to do it, why? Janet can’t seem to win with us. However, I never thought Bust It nor the collab with Khia’s unappreciative ass was a good idea. Queens don’t wallow in the gutter.

    Though the last couple of albums didn’t sell as well as previous ones, that is not to say there were not songs that were hits on them. There were. Whoever decided on the releases made bad choices. And based on those bad choices, the rest of the album was forgotten about.

    Lastly, her albums were once marketed as her journals. With all the stuff that’s happened in the past 5 years she should have a wealth of material to sing and write about. Like Justice told Lucky in Poetic Justice. music needs a voice, a perspective. That’s what I miss in J’s music, her true perspective on what’s REALLY going on in her life and the world in general. But then if she gave us an album like that our unappreciative asses will complain she trying to be India Irie or Mary J. And ironically, radio ain’t keeping them in heavy rotation either.
