Brockton’s Lil’ Poopy back at it in “The Rap Game” on Lifetime By Marc Larocque

BROCKTON – The notorious 12-year-old Brockton rapper Lil’ Poopy is about to hit national television for a new show on Lifetime, according to the channel’s website. Luis Rivera Jr., known better by his rapper name Lil’ Poopy, is set to be featured on “The Rap Game” on Lifetime starting Jan. 1 next year. Pictures of Lil Poopy are flying around social media showing the Brockton boy with famous rap producer Jermaine Dupri, who is working as the mentor on the show for five artists between ages 12 and 16, all vying for a record contract with his label So So Def Recordings. The Lifetime channel refers to some of the racy music videos that put Lil’ Poopy at the center of attention nearly four years ago, as parents across the nation expressed alarm, calling the clips sexually suggestive and heavy on drug references. His father Luis Rivera Sr. was accused and then cleared of child neglect and abuse allegations in 2013. “The youngest in the group, Lil’ Poopy has made over 200 videos, writes his own songs and has performed with Puff Daddy, Rick Ross and French Montana,” the Lifetime channel states on the website for the show. “His father and mentor, Luis Rivera, Sr. will do anything to see his son rise to the top – including hiring the hottest models and renting out Ferraris for his son’s music videos.” Queen Latifah is an executive producer for “The Rap Game,” according to the Lifetime website. Lifetime said that special guests will be featured each week during the series, including huge hip hop stars like Usher, Ludacris, Da Brat, T.I. and Silentó, to help Dupris as he takes the young performers under his wing. The show is scheduled to first air on New Year’s Day at 10 p.m.

Adele’s ’25’ Sales Rise to Over 4 Million in U.S.

The sales keep climbing for Adele‘s blockbuster 25 album. After processing the first sales reports through Nov. 29, Nielsen Music says that 25 has sold at least 650,000 copies in its second week on sale in the U.S. Combined with the 3.38 million 25 sold in its first week (Nov. 20-Nov. 26), the album has now sold more than 4 million in pure album sales. The album’s second tracking week began on Nov. 27 (the always-busy shopping day known as Black Friday). Adele’s ’25’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart, ’21’ Returns to Top 10 25 is the first album to sell more than 4 million copies in a calendar year since Adele’s own 21 moved 4.41 million in 2012. (In fact, the only albums to sell at least 4 million in a calendar year since 2006 have been titles by Adele. Aside from 25 in 2015 and 21 in 2012, she also did it with 21 in 2011: 5.82 million.) There are slightly more than four days left in the sales tracking week to be tabulated (as it ends at the close of business on Thursday, Dec. 3). Some industry forecasters suggest the album could sell another million copies in its second week, making it the first album to sell a million copies in more than one week. Billboard is scheduled to report 25‘s second-week sales on Sunday, Dec. 6, once Nielsen has finished processing its weekly data.
