I talk to both of my sons about life and my circumstances frequently. I use my own story to motivate them to be more and to go for their dreams while the are young with no responsibilities. I also try to throw in that I was going through real emotional issues when I was their age due to the fact that my mama had died of cancer when I was 18 […] View

    Dear Mama
There are days when I don’t feel as if I will make it through
Then I remember that I am apart of you
    Forged with strength and determination
    Built with class and sophistication
I am a mirror image of you it’s hard not to see the resemblance
But I wish I had your fire and resilience
Although I am strong and can rise to any challenge
I often miss out on the living life to the fullest balance
I work hard never leaving room for much fun
My smile often gets shadowed never seeing the sun
I know you would hate to see the decisions I have made
You were so hoping that I would go away from the path you paved
Good things came from my slip ups in life
But I am only surviving when I want to live my life
Although I have gained some new confidence
It will never compare to the happiness you lived
You filled all of our lives with such joy and warmth
You were the center of so many lives you were our core
No one will ever put a footprint on my heart the way you did
I was so lucky to be apart of the world you lived in
I miss you more every passing day
The pain of losing you has never gone away
You were my sun my moon and my stars
You were the best part of everything I have so far
Oh how I wish to hear your voice just one more time
I will play it forever in my heart and my mind.
