known for his cutting edge work for adidas’ subsidiary Y-3, prolific Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto now shifts his attention to the German athletic brand’s retro line. The latest collaboration sees Yamamoto’s Y’s label teaming up with adidas Originals to rework the classic Superstar silhouette. Renamed Super Position, the sneaker boasts a premium material upper, comprising a suede lace stay and soft leather lining, as well as a smooth leather toe box in place of the Superstar’s trademark textured shell toe. Further details include a “Y’s Super Position” callout that sits at the side of the heel patch and a Y’s logo on the tongue. The look is completed by a striking red zigzag seam replacing the iconic three stripes.
The Super Position will be available at Y’s stores Tokyo, No. 6 London, No. 74 Berlin, No. 42 Paris and select retailers worldwide.
