I TOOK THIS PICTURE LAST NIGHT AT THE KERI PARTY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE PARTY IS OVER FROM THIS BUT THIS WAS AT 1:15. THE DJ WAS PLAYING ALL THE RECORDS WE KNOW AND LOVE, EVERYBODY WAS TRYING TO GET IN VIP AND NOBODY WAS ON THE DANCE FLOOR. THIS HAS BECOME THE LIFE OF THE BLACK CLUBS HERE IN THE A. WHERE DID THE PARTY GO? LAST YEAR AT MY SO SO DEF WEEKEND I HAD A SUPER FLY WHITE PARTY, EVERYBODY DRESSED UP LIL JON WAS DJING BUT I HAD TO DAMN NEAR STOP THE PARTY TO GET PEOPLE TO DANCE. IS THIS THE NOT DANCE IN THE CLUB ERA AND I JUST DIDN’T GET THE MEMO CAUSE I’M LOST. MY NIGGA SERGE ASKED ME IS IT THE DJ’S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE PEOPLE GET ON THE FLOOR? YES AND NO IF HE DROP THE RIGHT RECORDS PEOPLE SUPPOSE TO HIT IT. SOMEBODY ELSE ASKED IS IT THE BLACK HOLLYWOOD PARTIES THAT CREATED THIS? I THOUGHT THOSE WERE SUPPOSE TO BE THE BEST BUT EVERY TIME I LOOK UP ITS A MILLION CAMERA PHONES AND NOBODY DANCING. IT SEEMS TO ME THESE CLUBS ARE NOW PLACES TO SEE CELEBRITIES, LISTEN TO MUSIC AND DRINK. DANCING AIN’T IN THE PROGRAM LOL. HAVE YALL NOTICED THIS OR AM I TRIPPING ?

Thanks Ashbaggs. Shay is like how many weeks past due on that video? That shit was so a month ago. Its been more shit taking place since then. Its hilarious to me how someone can talk about ignorance and still be stuck on some shit that’s old as hell. If you like Christina go buy her album when it comes out. And for the record if a nigga (yea I used the n word…sue me) ever put his hands on my sister I’d be in jail so that’s all I’ll say about that subject. Interesting that you would invoke the word gay though Shay. Is that what passes for an insult these days in minds of the languid (look that word up because I’m sure you’ve never heard of it)? Maybe you have some lesbian issues that you’re struggling to resolve which is why you throw gay around so much. If you are that’s ok but this crew is completely straight.
Anyway I like to party and I’m disgusted with seeing all of the “people watchers” in the club. Why pay $20-$50 to go somewhere just to take a picture? Dancing is a good thing. Tyrone and I were watching “New Jack City” a while ago and there was a seen where Nino (who was the hardest nigga in the movie) was dancing on the floor and having a good time! THAT is what is supposed to be about in the club! PARTY TIME!!!!!!
Maybe its that these younger kids today don’t actually know how to dance.They can do the 1 2 steps they see in the videos but can they just groove to a record?
A lot of it falls into the hands of the DJ…if he’s doing his job folks are gonna hit the floor. but if you ain’t feeling it you gonna chill and grab a couple of drinks. Me, personally, I’m not trying to listen to music and drink in the club…i can do that at home…my main goal is to get my money’s worth. So if I feel like the DJ’s playlist is kinda whack, me and my girls are hitting up the booth and requesting some stuff so we can hit the dance floor.
But JD you are so right about this becoming a growing trend in clubs…Let’s take it back to when it was about having fun and enjoying ourselves…instead of acting bourgeois and harassing celebrities.
WORLD WIDE PROBLEM! I live in London and its so bad that a lot of the clubs have very little dance floors left, it’s all tables & VIP. I spend a lot of time inside & out of VIP’s in NY, ATL, Miami, LA, and it’s the same shit is going on.
I’m sorry to say but it comes from you guys (the celebrity’s & your music videos) with the help of the media (E channel & shows/mags that follow celebrity’s around) that have put this SHOW-OF LIFE STYLE out there that people want to follow. So now clubs are about what you wearing, what you where drinking, who was there & what they where doing and not about HAVING FUN!
It’s only you the celebrity’s that can change it, by leading the way and getting on the dance floor… but will you risk lousing you cool!
Also the music these days is more radio friendly then Club friendly & isn’t as danceable as it used to be!

It’s like this nowadays a lot of club goers be on the bullshit when they go out. Females and Males don’t want to dance because the black girl don’t want to sweat they fucking hair out and the dudes think they would like some gays if they dance. Too many dudes are starting to turn into groupies as soon as a celeb walk into they building they turn into female mood and become groupies niggaz be beating down feamles to get into VIP…LOL damn shame. Too many folks want to imulate what they see folks or TV do. These celebs got bread where they can be in VIP, pop bottles and all that shit. I’m gonna keep it funky I have a decent job and if I want to I could once a year do VIP status but to me that’s not a good investment beside I like to dance and mingle with the women.

I honestly think it depends on the club you go to and the event that’s happening that night. If the club is known to have a lot of celebrities there, and it gets a lot of press/media attention, a great deal of people will go there just to see and hang with the celebrities. I don’t go to clubs that often but I was just in one last weekend for my friend’s birthday and the place was PACKED and just about everybody was dancing. There was barely any room on the regular dance floor. VIP was packed too and almost everyone was dancing there too. I will say that the DJ did a good job playing a variety of music, new and old.

That is some real talk right there. Everyone wants to watch the celebrities like they are in a fishbowl and ask for contact information while the hottest records are being played. When I go to the club it’s to hit that dance floor and have fun. The cdancefloor should be so packed and poppin that the celebrities are mad that THEY are stuck in VIP. That’s how it used to be.

And it was packed like a motherfucka…So like always we was poppin bottles in VIP and it was these two chicks just tryna sneak they way up there shit lol. And I was like y’all spending ya whole night up n my shit and not even enjoy your self ya dig. BUT the dj was on point to the fullest and people was dancing. I mean we tore the floor up. And I am 350 pounds solid and I was moving like Usher n shit..LMAO But thats just there b/c when I’m bouncing in these clubs I look and people just don’t dance like the old days. Diddy posted a vid and it said this is ow we dance and I was like back then you grooved to the music…You got down with the get down. Dancing was made more into a fashion back then. I blame it on the photographers running rapid through the clubs. All the time my friends showing me random HAM chickenheads posing for the camera. Everybody too busy trying to pose for a picture and forgot the club is a place for dancing and not a Sears photo center.

You are right JD and everyone else, people dont dance anymore too busy wanna style and profile. But I guess its sometimes the dj or sometimes the crowd. But hey I been to a couple events (and I dont really party like that because of what everyone just stated) and the people got down on the dance floor, talk about sweat they were drench. For instance I attended an All White Event out here in NYC last year given by Gator Productions at the Roseland Ballroom and talk about dancing, people was on the dance floor and it was packed. Even if a scuffle break out towards the end of the party the DJ stop for a min and then the person get help and then the DJ continue to spin the record so the party can end,as they say the show must go on lol. So JD if you are ever in NYC during the month of JULY go to Gator Productions All White Party at the Roseland BallRoom. (And Party and Bull Shit, And Party and Bull Shit lol).
I agree with the people who said it has to do with the DJ.You used to have the veteran DJ who knew how to mix it up all night and talk on the mic to keep everyone on the dance floor no matter what celebrity was in the building but now you have these 30 dollar bar tab DJs that the club owner hires to cut cost.
Some of these new cats on the tables have no clue.They just mix records together because the bpms match and not because the vibe is right.Also they really have no knowledge of the classic records that get people on the dance floor.

I am so glad you said something about this… I thought we had that problem just because I am in Indiana. Ppl always like Indiana is lame… to me the ppl make it lame… they rather be on facebook/myspace/twitter… as they are in the club instead of having a great time! ME when I go out…yes most of the time it is for business…or my team’s event…but I still have a great time, thats why ppl love going out with me! I feel like going out is a release from work week!!

Some DJ’s here get into it and some don’t it depends on what club you are in. Y’all know black folks be too cool to dance. I know here in Denver these girls be scared to sweat their hair. Look I throw my hair in a ponytail, I don’t wear a perm so my stuff sweats out do you understand me! I put it in a ponytail and dance my but off, fortunately I don’t have to wear makeup so I don’t have to worry about whats drippin’ down my face while I’m dancing. But these chicks in Denver, some are too prissy to dance worried about how they gon’ look when the light comes up. Not me and my girls we go out to dance and have a good time and that’s what we do. We hit a lot of clubs that have a mixed crowd because you get more people that are there to party.
JD, it’s funny you posted this b/c me and one of my homegirls was just talking about this. I’m glad that I have the type of friends that could care less what’s goin on in the club/at the party….we are still gonna do what we came to do….have fun! It’s a VERY common thing now (with mostly guys) for ppl to stand around and look at other ppl in there all night. I can understand to maybe step back a sec or two to check out the scene to see who you may want to approach.
It’s already bad enough that the ladies out number the guys no matter what party you’re at, but we didn’t come to dance with each other. So to all of the fellas whose sole purpose is to drink and stay by your homeboy all night, just stay home and chill with them!
JD- It’s crazy that you notice that as well, from a celebrity’s point of view. I was raised in Stone Mountain and know what Atlanta was like before “Black Hollywood” invaded us. People from Atlanta don’t trip about seeing celebrities…because we always have. Before the world came to know how much talent we had down here, I literally was standing next to and partying with the likes of Usher, Outkast and even you. Remember Plush? You and the SoSoDef street team was always there, but yet the dance floor stayed packed. I think it has a lot to do with so many new people moving down, trying to make it somehow. My friends and I don’t even go to the clubs anymore because of this. My crew is super-cute, but we DANCE no matter whose in the building. But now the Atlanta club scene looks more like a Still Life art museum with pretty people and music.

idk this must just be happening in the A because out here in LA if a celeb is in the building we don’t act thirsty to see them and we def don’t take a picture. I think its bc we know that by the end of the night they’re not going to be worried or remember us so why try to be extra. Plus, everyone is always down to shake it up at the club so trying to take a peep at a celeb just takes away all the fun from actually going to the club to have a good time.
