I just fell like the phase “NO-HOMO” is what’s in right now. On Kanye West Graduation CD he had a single by the name of BIG BROTHER in reference to Jay-Z not one time did he say the words “NO-HOMO” in that whole song, and that song was a song about another man and he made his feelings know about that man and nothing about that song seem gay to me there was no need to say :no-homo. Bring back to this year he has said it like three time in different songs. Its like “NO-HOMO” is the new “Thats Tight” are something. i feel like the people who say just doesnt have anything better to say. Open up ur VOCAL people!!!!!!

First let me say Rest In Peace to DJ AM and that he will be sincerely missed by all those who experienced his presence. Now the NO HOMO statement which is commonly overused by individuals attempting to clarify their sexual orientation. Within the Hip Hop community the lifestyle of Homosexuality is frowned upon and not accepted by the general listening audience. On the flip side of the industry Homosexuality is accepted by every other genre available. Its a unconscious prejudice against Gays which in my opinion is absolutely wrong and for statements to be made such as No Homo by individuals is absolute ignorance on their part. Imagine two caucasians talking and over hearing one of them saying ” No Nigger ” immediately there would be outrage ! Well the same Outrage should exist when the statement No Homo is brought into conversation by individuals using it. From a purely Business perspective if i were a CEO of my own record Label i would Search for Homosexual/Lesbian Artist to showcase to the listening public and display the equal talent that exist. That community is very close knit and supportive of each other. At this very moment i am looking at a few Keith Harding artworks on my wall and imagining if i would of said No Homo while purchasing them from the gallery. What if the Gay/Lesbian community flipped it and said amongst themselves ” NO Hip Hop ” what effect would this have on artist popularity within the Hip Hop genre ?
saying NO HOMO is an act of gayness… only if you have a “sugar imbalance” would you have to put a disclaimer on your statements…

Sometime the context of what is said and the way it was spoken can make a statement sound very wrong. Most people who use this term are insecure of how others perceive them. So when he says no homo to JD, He simply doesn’t want DJ to get the wrong perception about him. It’s all a stupid matter but it’s based on the context of what is said.
My feeling is if you think that your statement would be viewed as “gay” to begin with, dont say it in the first place. Reword it to sound less “gay” if it bothers you to think that they may see it as such.

I think its really stupid to be honest with u.. I don’t even use it, I don’t get it am i’m only 24…. i feel like people who use it so much are afraid people may take them another way.. if u know what u mean thats all there is too it. If the person thinks otherwise then their the ones that need help. Especially if its something so simple as to what you just said JD.
I think that alot of people not even just men but women also say “no homo” because in todays world everybody seems to feel that many things that are being said and done are seen as gay to the public and its obvious that its a popular use in the black community along with the “pause” that is also being used on an everyday basis….i think that its used because men don’t wanna be talking to guy and they say something and you take it the wrong way then you lookin at the dude like nigga you gay so yea i think i like the “pause” better than the no homo its played out
