JD we know the rap game is messed up. But if the show was being held in ATL everyone in the industry should have been there!

Hey JD, I love the A! Went down there alot for work over the end of last year, and couldn’t get enough of Buckhead life! Man I would love to live there, and will def be making many wknd trips with my wife, exquisite dining, endless things to do, and shopping out the ass! Funny coincidence was in neighborhood on way home and you and Jiggaman’s song “Money ain’t a thang” came on the air, “ya’ll wanna floss wit us?”

Hello Beverly Hills of the South!

I don’t have time to read through all these comments but I’m sure this has been said. If not… here goes.

As a blogger… and as an ATLANTA blogger, I have to be completely honest and say that while I agree with you that the hip-hop awards don’t have to be here, since they are… they should be held to a higher standard.

Just because you’re hungry doesn’t mean you have to accept crumbs!

I covered the awards show and chose not to do a detailed post on it because the show sucked. Sorry but it’s a fact. The reason it sucked had nothing at all to do with Atlanta. The show is ran by BET and BET didn’t put any effort into it IMO.

BET chose to film the awards here because of 1) the cost effectiveness (it’s cheaper than other cities) and 2) the ratio of hip-hop artists already centralized in our city.

I can’t speak on the “rap game” because I’m not in it. I can however speak as a viewer/consumer who has supported Atlanta artists all my life. And it appeared to me that BET dropped the ball. NOT ATLANTA.

I feel like it has to do with what type of music the artist is putting out. I LOVE hip hop but lately it just all sounds the same, their comes a time when rapping about cars, women, and how much money you have and how much jewelry you can wear at one time gets old. Just saying :/

I believe that since B.E.T. dosen’t take this Show serious we as a community have no choice but to do the same, Hip-Hop is the major music listened to in today’s society. The fact is they make the Bet awards the show to go to and just throw another show together to carter to the fans, But really there just not giving hip-hop a platform to set a higher goal.. This show could be the grammy’s if they treated as such, but Since they don’t take it serious which was shown, thru every disasterous perfomance. There is no need to put the blame on Atl, but yet the channel themselves. There where few awards giving out and nothing worth talking about. Not even the vet’s or talented artist drew u in except, B.O.B and he repped ATL. Don’t blame the city J.D. we just spoke on the event’s that occured B.E.T dosen’t care about hip-hop it’s just a check for them…

After GREGSTREET comment, the CASE is CLOSED!!! I’m not saying that elder are always right, but we have, nah we must give them credit for experiementing and experiencing everything they did. And GregStreet is far from a man that doesn’t know what he’s talking about or disconnected from reality.

There has been a lot of shitty music from the A…. Soulja Boy and Wacka being very good examples. But there has also been a shit load of great music. Crappy music has come from everywhere, ATL is just the capitol of hip-hop right now…… But on another note….FUCK BET, they don’t deserve anybody’s respect, I haven’t watched BET for years now because its pathetic. They make our ppl look sad and they are not even a good representation of the variety of really good hip-hop artists in this country right now. They play bullshit all day, and every year they do less and less good in our communities….makes sense though since they haven’t been black-owned in forever. I pray for a world without BET very soon
