HE AND I GOT INTO A BACK AND FORTH CONVO ABOUT DRAKE SO I DECIDED TO ASK MY LIFERS. MY FIRST QUESTION WAS, IS DRAKE HOTTER THAN MURDER MA$E WHEN HE FIRST CAME OUT? (I’M TALKING LYRICAL AND SWAGG WISE NOT THE COMPANIES THERE WITH AND WHO’S BEHIND THEM) MY SECOND QUESTION, IS DRAKE THE FIRST RAPPER TO HAVE THIS MUCH PRESS WITH NO ALBUM? SERGE REPLY WAS 50 HAD THE SAME SHIT, BUT I DON’T REMEMBER HIM GETTING THE VIBE OR COMPLEX COVER BEFORE HIS ALBUM, MA$E DEFINITELY DIDN’T. LIFERS YALL KNOW HOW WE DO! I think Drake is hotter than MA$E when he first came out just based on anticipcation of his 1st official project alone (I was around for MA$E’s debut and I don’t remember the same level of anticipation for 1st project). Lyrically, I wouldn’t necessarily say that Drake is better than MA$E. I just think they bring different things to the table. Drake is an R&B singer and rapper, and he does both well. I also think he he appeals to a wider audience. Drake is not hood and that is part of his swag. MA$E just rapped and was real slick with it. They both have the whole pretty boy thing going on but its two totally different approaches.
MY SECOND QUESTION, IS DRAKE THE FIRST RAPPER TO HAVE THIS MUCH PRESS WITH NO ALBUM?
From my recollection, this is the 1st time that any artist has received such main stream coverage with no official album. I don’t think it will be the last though. I think this will be a new way of doing things. You can project a lot of sales and gauge people’s response to an artist this way.
I’ll keep it short…Murda Mase>>>>>>Drake. Mase “murdas” Drake on every level. I like Drake, but he doesn’t have what it takes to take over the game.
AYFS (Are You Fuckin Serious) are speaking of Mase from Bad Boy, Mr. Softy Mase, slow flow drag my words Mase. I mean come on man. Mase was cool back then, but he was never as hot a Drake. Never, even when Mase had Biggie and Diddy. Drake has the flow and swag becuz he created it all by himself. I just wish he wouldn’t not have sign with YM, they are going to rape him, just like they done all there other acts. Ok, it’s not Cash Money, but be for real if you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a freakin pig. But they guy is dope as hell, he had the best production and lyrics for 09 and that was from a mixtape, son. A freaking mixtape, that tells you where the state of hip hop is. It’s time for new blood, something fresh and raw, like a shot of herion to the brain, Blooooooooow.

Mase was crazy nice and he is better than Drake when it comes to lyrics. I think Drake is a ood artist and his mixtape should have been released as an album due to the quality of the music. But lets keep it real, Drake’s buzz is dying out. One he signed to young $/cash$. Everyone or anyone who signs to them doesn’t really make it because Lil Wayne is there # 1 priority. Mase had a buzz till the day he ritired and when he came back it was crazy. He still had it. Drake is a good artist because he can sing, rap, and write but he isn’t better than Ma$e… To be honest, we can’t really compare the two because of the time era of music. In the 90s you had have real talent and bust your ass to get recognize but now you make a popcorn record and you hot. Ha!!!
Drake is a talented dude but I don’t know if we can compare him to Mase or 50.
By the way 50 did have a huge buzz before the deal.
All i have to say is drake is up for two grammys with no album just mixtapes u cant not tell me hes not next up.
Not sure bout Drake taking over still, his lyrics are tight but as for presence he does not have the fire in his performances. He is very well packaged and manufactured, he has a different look than most rappers which makes him marketable, but I am all for your stage performance and presence and I don’t see that with Drake. He is a good collaborator and that is what is bringing him right now!
let me just say that i like both of them, but i would have to give it to mase hands down. don’t get me wrong drake is ding his thing. i can’t knock that. when mase was in the game he did it all from his style in clothes, to the way he rock the mic, and the way that he put words together. i really think that drake can take a lesson from mase. let me say again i don’t think that drake is a bad rapper, but he pick up a few things from mase. and if anybody think different i want them to go and get mase old songs and listen to them and than listen to drake. u will find out that mase went hard. i really do believe that if mase wanted to come back and drop some fire right now a lot of people probably be shock to know that he still got it. this is jus coming from somebody that love hip hop and know the real deal. so i’ll end this with each its own.

Drake aint the hottest rapper he great for being the hook guy and make it popping..but getting serious and coming with some real smart talk…not there yet for Mr. Drake……still trying to figure out how he getting so much air time ….dude not even blowing up like that on the street level. Dude will be forgotten by September of 2010 if he dont drop some knowledge on some fools. Honestly I cant think of any rapper who currently out getting the title of hottest rapper.
Drake can’t touch Mase period!!! Murda Mase or Shiny Suit Mase. Mase lyrically and swag wise kills Drake! I like Drake’s songs at first and then they get boring. A Mase joint when u put it on still knocks.

I’m going with Mase just because he was in everybody list. The young murda Mase was a serious problem (go back to DJ Clue mixtapes and Hot 97 freestyles). Now Drake is same position cause there’s nobody right as new artist that is just killing it that we haven’t heard of yet. Hopefully his music lives up to the hype but it can’t have tons of features on it being your first album.
Only new artist other than Cudi and Wale…….is Curren$y. He is ill and has backing of Dame Dash. Plus who was under Lil Wayne before Drake. He got next…I’m calling it now. Holla!!!!
YO JD I believe Drake buzz is bigger than Mase but I do believe Snoop hype was that big before his album came out.
drake gots some hot flos but lets be real he really wouldn’t have credentials if it wasn’t for wayne. I think he can come harder delivering his flos. he not at that level were he can constantly spit fire after fire, wayne probably tutoring him. yeah its cool if you getting air play without no album, but until you getting grammies and making mills, you basically aint shit to me
I remember Mase being Hot (cuz Im from NY) butttt it wasnt by himfself, Puff was always in the background dancing and saying something. Yeah he had a successful album with the green suit and total leading the hook (or something like that), buttttt Drake can stand on his own and isnt over shadowed by his boss. Maybe it was his boss (puff) that was the problem. Drake is the biggest artist out without an album. Plus, I like his voice and lyrics better than Mase’s (betha) not (murder) ….damn shame lolol

Being from Toronto myself I got to go with my boy Drake all the way! Drake exudes a quite confidence that has proven to be infectious. He has that TORONO SWAGGER, which is something that the hip hop community has never embraced at this level before. Yes in the past there were rappers like Maestro, but he was never as popular as Drake has proven and will CONTINUE to be.
