MY VOICE HASN’T CHANGE SINCE THAN, I THINK I GOTING A BIT WORSER IN THE YEARS BECAUSE I GAVE UP ON SINGING SINCE I COULDN’T GET A RECORD CONTRACT. THE REASON WHY I COULDN’T GET A RECORD TRACK THAN WAS BECAUSE I WAS TOO YOUNG AND THEY REFUSE TO SIGN ANYMORE YOUNG ACTS AT THE TIME. AROUND THE MIDDLE 90′S, THEY WERE SO MANY YOUNGSTA’S IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THAT WERE REALLY GOOD. TEVIN CAMPBELL STARTED OUT YOUNG, IMMATURE STARTED OUT YOUNG, KRISS KROSS STARTED OUT YOUNG, BRANDY STARTED OUT YOUNG, MONICA STARTED OUT YOUNG, AALIYAH STARTED OUT YOUNG, BOW STARTED OUT YOUNG, 3RD STOREE STARTED OUT YOUNG, AND SOOOOOOOO ON. To Jermaine: You’re used to being in the spotlight and being famous so it’s nothing to you anymore but to there is a person that would LOVE to be in your postion. We all want more in life than what we already have. We want to be able to post up pics of the things we want and ACTUALLY be able to afford it. For a lot of people, fame is the quickest way to get to success (money, cars, clothes, and hoes). Being a celebrity gets you a lot of attention that you wouldn’t ordinarily get as a normal person. People that want to be in VIP are just looking to get that one chance at fame. They want to get their 15 minutes to be seen or heard. They’re looking for just one opportunity to feel the gratification of being famous.

So people avoid the conversation altogether. Those who are your real friends and not just “yes” men or women will tell you the truth. But then, nigga culture has it so that those people will be called “haters”. Thus, it is conveniently set up so that people never have to face cold hard facts about themselves.
Johnta can sing his ass off. But he hasn’t been able to catch a true brake in the industry as an artist. However, he is a multifaceted person with immense writing skill and was able to use that skill to make a way for himself…that’s where being able to read and write effectively comes in. If voice lessons brought you to this point, then it might be time to cut your losses in that arena or find out if your instructor is legit.
When people complain that the business is all about money, I understand what they are trying to say; it makes me chuckle nonetheless. BUSINESS = MONEY. Of course, the music business is all about making money off of music. Hello!
You obviously want/wanted the money as well or you wouldn’t have tried to get into the industry in the first place. If all you want is to make great music, you can do that at home. Buy a microphone, a mixer, some recording software, and some instruments or production software and get to work. Create a name for yourself. Show that people are hungry for what you have to offer.

Now you’re saying that you could read very well but just can’t concentrate. If you were to get signed, by divine intervention, then you would be a feast for the lions because if you can’t focus enough to read over a contract and completely understand what you’re getting yourself into, you’re destined to get robbed.
Secondly, you refer to ADHD as a disability. From the Learning Disabilities Association of America : “ADHD is not considered to be a learning disability. Thirdly, YOU CAN’T SING. YOU CANNOT SING. U + SING = NOT WORKING. I tried to be nice about it. You may get better with a better trainer. It worries me that you’ve been singing for years and sound like this. But I was trying to tell you that you could have a chance in other areas of the industry (behind the scenes) if you could write well or produce well.

there is no need to explain yourself. You were 9;that was a while ago, time is gone. You have speech problems? that is something you might need to work on asap. Get with a speech therapist and take some courses top help you with that. Go and find someone who cant help perfect your singing and follow those steps I left you. You must do all of these things. Or you will be 50 years old with this same story. Go after your dreams. But do it correctly.

Maybe that will encourage her to get some help to be better her voice and music. Or she can use this as a crutch and continue life with these same arguments. Why does everyone want to be a recording artist? I’m not complaining Artist pay my mortgage. I just cant figure why everyone thinks its easy to be an artist. Like going to college for 4 years is so hard. Its like everyone thinks being a Rapper or a singer is the same as being a Doctor or an investment banker or even a Dentist. There are other jobs that can guarantee yourself the same income or more.
If you are a new artist you looking to make 10 to 15% of your net value.
So if you went gold (The market has changed this isn’t easy nor common anymore, especially for new artists)
500,000 records sold
And lets say the label gets 9.00 per CD after they pay the retailers and or distribution fees they make
(500,000 x 9)= 4,500,000 net value for your CD
if you are a new artist you get roughly 10% (450,000)
But lets not forget the label gave you an advancement of 1 million dollars
out of that 1 million you had to pay for the recording, mixing, mastering, songwriting, Producers, Lawyers, managers etc.
I say that to say now your in debt to the label $550,000 in the red (Negative)
You made no money. I hope you budgeted your project and save yourself some cash. I hope you didnt buy that home, or that car.
Shit I hope you sell 3 times platinum. Now your making some money.
The truth about being a artist is your constantly under a microscope, you have problems like everyone else. Money inst how you pictured it. You can be a fairly successful artist for 5 to 10 years if you have merchandise and touring. But as an investment baker or a doctor you have a career of 40+ years. at 250,000 to the moon. Go to college who do you think they hire to market your album, who do you think they get to write your songs, engineer your music, plan your shows, conduct meetings, and compose that contract. Who made the bulk of the money you worked so hard for. Yes those 10 to 50 people worked on selling your CD.

i would LOVE to work in the industry because I love the music, simply the music. so whatever i can do i would “behind the scenes” i dont club at all so VIP i dont want….the money of COURSE. people flock to whatever they see is making the most money and having the most fun doing so. its not all FUN, but there are plenty of FUN times. JD you have all the attention you have becuase you’re who you are which is a music mogul…but you still like to go out and party and DJ! dudes just wanna be in VIP to try and show you, they have what you have. most of the times be it not true. but there are your common everyday people/millionaires/socialites who do have it and party just as hard people of JD’s stature but the common Joe wouldnt have any idea as to where or how to join these functions.
I think some people just want the attention. To be seen with the “whos who” of the entertainment business to make themselves look better/bigger than who they really are. Not realizing they haven’t put in enough work or laid that foundation to seize their spot amongst those who have.
Diddy has some really fresh style, but if I were him I’d put all that green to better use and buy myself a Rolex watch those pieces are stylish that’s what you see the big dogs rockin’.
