Disney Merges CGI and Hand-Drawn Animation in ‘Paperman’

I LOVE IT !!

Disney is back with an advanced animation technique that merges the worlds of computer-generated images with those that are hand-drawn. The short film is directed by John Kahrs and features a lonely young man in mid-century New York City who has a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. She quickly disappears but he is given a second chance during his dreary workday.

Listen Up: George Lucas Will Donate Disney $4 Billion To Education

Now here’s a person that I would love to sit and have a conversation with. Big up to George Lucas. Pay Attention!

George Lucas is ensuring that the force may be with young Jedis everywhere.

The “Star Wars” director will donate the $4.05 billion he will receive from the sale of Lucasfilm Ltd. to Disney to a foundation focused on education, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

On Tuesday, the Walt Disney Company announced it had paid the huge sum to acquire Lucasfilm Ltd., which produced “Star Wars” and is 100 percent owned by George Lucas himself. Disney also announced plans to release a seventh “Star Wars” film, “Star Wars: Episode VII,” in 2015.

“For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company,” Lucas said in a statement on Wednesday. “As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy.”

The director has yet to disclose which charity will be the beneficiary of the huge chunk of money. But Lucas currently serves as the chairman of Edutopia, a foundation that empowers innovative coursework in schools. The organization is a likely choice, eonline.com speculates.

Lucas has made other generous donations to show his commitment to education in the past. In a Giving Pledge letter from 2010, he wrote:

“I am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education. It is the key to the survival of the human race. We have to plan for our collective future –- and the first step begins with the social, emotional, and intellectual tools we provide to our children. As humans, our greatest tool for survival is our ability to think and to adapt – as educators, storytellers, and communicators our responsibility is to continue to do so.”

Disney Fantasy Christening with Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon in New York

LOOK AT THE FAIRY GODMOTHER, LOL!

“I christen thee Disney Fantasy. May God bless this ship and all who sail on her,” said MC,

Disney x Cappellini TRON Armchair

I WOULD PUT THIS IN MY STAR WARS ROOM

From Curated
Perhaps unexpected (though also, oddly expected given the breadth of Tron tie-ins), this chair was designed by Dror Benshetrit, an NYC-based fellow, and produced by Italian firm Cappellini. The chair is made of impregnated fiberglass and polyester resin. With its angular layers, the Special Production Walt Disney Signature TRON Armchairs invite you to “sit off the grid.”

Signature Suites at the Disneyland Hotel: Mickey Mouse Penthouse

ME AND SHANIAH WILL BE GETTING THIS ROOM

Are you a “Big Cheese”? The Mickey Mouse Penthouse could be your ultimate Mouse Pad. I’m excited to show you around the place in today’s post, the second in our series that features the signature suites of the Disneyland Hotel.

This signature suite is designed for “big cheeses” of all ages and offers spectacular views of the 500-acre resort (including Disneyland Park, kground-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(5, 98, 135); position: relative; z-index: 20; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; “>Downtown Disney District) through floor-to-ceiling windows. The suite brings to life all the fun that Mickey Mouse represents.

The swanky penthouse, featuring an interior design with “Mickey’s” signature colors of black, white, red and yellow, occupies an expansive 1,600 square feet and includes an open living room, dining and kitchen area, two bedrooms and two and one-half bathrooms. Classic Mickey Mouse imagery and three-dimensional artwork dominate the design scheme throughout the penthouse. Photos and sketches from the Disney library are prominently displayed, featuring images of Walt and Mickey rarely seen by the public.

In the living room, guests encounter stylized contemporary décor featuring eclectic furnishings, Mickey motifs and hardwood floors. A giant impression of Mickey Mouse fills the ceiling, as glowing lights enhance the mood of the room. The formal dining area seats eight guests. A built-in media wall is the focal point of the living room, featuring three flat screen TVs and a state-of-the-art home theater system worthy of Mickey’s status as one of Hollywood’s brightest stars.

The master bedroom is filled with luxury amenities including a king-size bed, lounge chairs, a 37″ flat panel TV and a DVD player, and it’s decorated with animation maquettes of Mickey Mouse in many of his most famous film roles. (Maquettes are three-dimensional models used by Disney animators to effectively render a character in two dimensions, and they are highly sought-after collectibles). The master bath includes a steam shower, Jacuzzi tub and a double vanity with a built-in TV in the mirror. Unique glass tiles on the shower walls bring the magic of Mickey Mouse to life as the familiar image of Mickey appears only when the warm water of the shower hits the tiled wall.

The second bedroom has a playful feel, featuring a round bed, and it doubles as a playroom for little ones. The main “conversation piece” in the room is a cutting-edge animator’s station, a high-tech table that adds to the Mickey Mouse and animation-inspired storyline. The desk will help budding artists take sketching to a new level as they draw their favorite character and watch it come to life through the magic of Disney technology. The bedroom also features a Mickey Mouse built-in armoire with a flat panel TV, DVD player and video games.

Disney Announces New Luxury Home Development

AS MUCH AS I LIKE GOIN TO DISNEY THIS IS IDEAL TO ME

Disney is taking its time with this concept, they are offering less than 30 lots during this first go-round with the first homes being finished next year. The roll-out of other fully-built homes should come later, possibly after real estate continues to rise.

Golden Oak isn’t Disney’s first development. It created the fully-formed town of Celebration which offered everything from rental apartments to luxury homes in an idealized planned town. Golden Oak is nothing like Celebration, it’s not a planned town but a cluster of neighborhoods set amid ample undeveloped space. Carolwood is surrounded by natural preserves and has 17 custom home sites that are up to three-quarters of an acre. some with golf course or water views. Silverbrook has 19 homesites of about one-half acre and will be located near Summerhouse, the proposed private clubhouse for Golden Oak. Kimball Trace is a Tuscan-inspired village with courtyard homes.

The entire project could take eight to 10 years to complete. Florida has seen its share of faileddevelopments but the Disney name should keep this one afloat. Interested buyers can put down $25,000 to get on the sales reservation-list. More info is available at the designated Golden Oak website.
