Steve Nash Officially Announces His Retirement

Steve Nash

Now, however, Nash has decided to officially announce his retirement, doing so with an article in The Player’s Tribune that started with two simple words:

I’m retiring.

Nash went on to talk about every single person, teammate, and coach who has helped him throughout his amazing career. He also spoke about the support he received from the Lakers organization:

There’s been a lot of negativity online, but in my nearly three years in L.A., I’ve never met anyone who didn’t show me anything but love and support for my efforts. There’s a lot of class in Lakerland, and the organization and staff have given me unwavering support.

Nash’s time in Los Angeles did not go the way fans and the Lakers organization hoped. He broke his leg in his second game with the team and the rest of his career was affected due to that. He never achieved what he came to Los Angeles to do, but that does not take away from what he accomplished throughout his career.

He is undoubtedly one of the greatest pure point guards that the NBA has ever seen and the most unlikely back-to-back MVP winner in league history. It is only a matter of time before he is enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
