Cool Brits (and cool everybody, really) get the charms of an Aston Martin. Bond drives one. So does Michael Caine in The Italian Job. And so, soon, may (wait for it) London bus drivers. A collaboration between Foster + Partners and AM tied for first prize in London mayor Boris Johnson’s competition to redesign the city’s buses, and their winning design—powered by electric motor, outfitted with skylights, and lower to the ground for easier handicap accessibility—is now with manufacturers for finalization and prototyping. If all goes well, the buses may be on the streets as soon as 2011.

    would be nice but this country cant afford shit right now. but i am sure they will pop up somewhere soon like new york, atlantic sity, vegas or somewhere.

    NYC could truly use this. The fares just went up on buses & subways and the service has gone down. WTF! I just don’t get it. Greedy MTA mofo’s stuffing their pockets, I bet.

    every major city and its transportation system is so fucking far in debt we’ll never get that shit over here unless its a GIFT. PERIOD. they’ll just be another reason to visit and or relocate to another country.

    They have buses in Cleveland. Theirs are just bigger. It seems it would be a good idea for the cab riding New Yorkers. Cheaper than maintaining a car I’ll tell u that.

    Whoa…..noo way. I was just contemplating doing my driving lessons and getting a car coz the buses over here stink of old people and bloody annoying kids. But I might have to rethink this seeing as the new buses look like space ships…..I’m ecstatic now, I’m gonna spread the word. I live in London and I had no idea about this. I must say I’ve seen a few different looking buses but not in my endz =(
