Launched in 2014, Imoji – the alternative Emoji app – enables users to express themselves on a more personal level whenever they create a text or social media post. Once downloaded, the user can create an account, upload a photo, crop it and then save into the app’s integrated iPhone iMessage system. The user may save the imoji as either private or public, with the latter allowing the app’s 1 million-plus users to also enjoy the personalized imoji. There are currently over 300 million imojis available, with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian being the top two most popular stickers, naturally.
The app also includes a feature – Artmoji – that enables the customization of photos, acting as a more elementary version of Photoshop. Simple in execution, the user can merely upload a photo of their choosing and impose an imoji sticker on top.
