Mixtape Review: 6.5/10
Overall, the best tracks are the ones that have already been released…..very short mixtape (my version was 11 tracks, I’m not sure on the official track list)….I don’t think there’s anything exceptional offered concept wise. I think J.D and team could have put a little more thought into capitalizing on a very entertaining theme they have going and offered a more clearly defined statement of the “Ocean’s 7″ movement. Still looking forward to see hearing more music…..

:sigh: I really hate to do this but I have to be diplomatic about the situation. I wouldn’t be a true Lifer if I didn’t provide the appropriate feedback. I was and still am excited about the mixtape. I’m thoroughly listening to it as I type…. but I must say that I’m just not pleased because it’s not what I thought it would be. I HATE THAT USHER IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND ON THE TAPE! (I believe his voice was on the last interlude.) I hate that there are 7 songs (5 of which we’ve heard/3 of which we’ve heard in its entirety), 3 interludes (2 of which are from the Living the Life episodes) and the Kid Cudi track with a JD verse. I hate that there’s no ballad with Usher, Johnta and Trey. I hate the fact that the mixtape seems rushed. I don’t think that the hype received was deserved. The quality (and quality isn’t the right word) doesn’t meet the standards of the Ocean’s “3000 and 9 shit” to me. I know and understand that y’all are very busy businessmen, artists, writers, producers, friends, boyfriends, fathers, etc. and I know that the mixtape is free but…. I don’t know…. I feel like time should have been a factor in the mixtape making process because the effort was definately there. You have great songs as proof of that. I actually feel bad because I’ve read all the other comments and I seem to be the only one with an opposing outlook. PLEASE, don’t take this as hating because it’s far from it. I rep y’all HARD, tell everybody about the Oceans and suffer through the harsh criticism (because my friends don’t half way jam the music that I fucks with). Just know that “bad” feedback is just as good as good feedback in my point of view.
Anyway, I have to mention the positive to balance out this comment. Soooo…. “Amazing” is THE SHIT, I love the harmony of “Ain’t I” and of course “So Much Swagg” has so much swagg…… “Go hard like a stiff dick, pause!” Best line of the mixtape.
