Merecedes gives its flagship SLS supercar a proper 21st century overhaul with the unveiling of the SLS AMG Electric Drive. Merc has swapped out the V8 for a monster of an electric engine: four electric motors that produce 740 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. With a 0-62 time of 3.9 seconds, all that power will have you quickly (and silently) creeping up beside the best of the gas-powered supercars. As for charging and range, the car will need 3 hours for a full charge with a special “wall-box” installation or 20 hours without it. Once the 72 lithium ion cells are fully juiced, the car can cover a range of up to 155 miles. Look for the SLS AMG Coupe Electric drive to hit show rooms next summer for $530,000.
