Justin Bieber Booed at Billboard Music Awards, Says He “Should Be Taken Seriously”

Apparently tens of millions of Beliebers are not enough to make pop star Justin Bieber feel like he’s a serious artist. At the 2013 Billboard Music Awards Sunday night, Bieber took the stage to accept his fan-voted Milestone Award award and was met with boos from the audience.

After a long pause, Bieber felt the need to defend himself, saying, ”I’m 19 years old. I think I’m doing a pretty good job.”

He continued, ”Basically from my heart I really just want to say it really should be about the music. It should be about the craft that I’m making. This is not a gimmick, and I’m an artist, and I should be taken seriously.”

Even host Tracy Morgan came to Bieber’s defense, saying after the speech, ”Don’t be booin’ nobody, this ain’t ’Showtime at the Apollo.’”…
