Kendrick “DJ 5Starr The General” Tilghman started his journey as a DJ in 1997. While securely in place as one of the top tier DJ’s in the Mid Atlantic Region, DJ 5 Starr is receiving national recognition. Within the past 5 years, DJ 5 Starr rapidly speeds towards becoming a household name. He’s hosted events for several A-list entertainers, corporations, and venues while building an ever-growing fan base that has landed him well-deserved titles of “Mr. Versatile” and “Mr. Consistent”. While currently a feature DJ on Baltimore’s WEAA 88.9FM every first Friday, he is also one of the most highly sought after DJ’s in the country which lands him at several world-class night venues weekly. His current affiliations read like a who’s who in DJ’s around the USA today. While DJ 5 Starr has received numerous accolades in the past few years including Pepsi’s “You be the DJ” contest winner of 2006, Mr. Tilghman will tell you his number one accomplishment of all is his Bachelors of Science Degree earned in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD in 2004. This great balance of books smarts mixed with urban intelligence has made him the man that he is today; Realizing then how important giving back was, he began serving as a coordinator for the Sat academy and was the youngest director of the P.A.C.E. program (pre-accelerated curriculum in engineering) at Morgan State University. Here he saw how important it is to promote education to the up and coming future leaders of the world. In addition, he began to focus on his business and striving to be the best entrepreneur. Mr. Tilghman is now a candidate to getting his Master’s of Business Administration, he also accepts the role of becoming “Mr. Education” and becoming the face of S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) as well as the number 1 National S.T.E.M. Disk Jockey. This task is met by leading youth groups, inspirational speeches, and even donating his services as a way of giving back to his community all while promoting the importance of S.T.E.M. awareness. He uses DJ technology and music to captures youths attention, therefore creating the urge to LEARN. He represents himself, 5starr Productions LLC, 5starr Enterprise LLC and Red Dot Promotions LLC in the highest manner and serves as a great liaison between the corporate world and the inner city. Currently Mr. Tilghman is working with Elev8, a program for inner-city middle school students as a tutor, mentor, and instructional leader in S.T.E.M. based topics. In addition, he has partnered with the ISF (Innovative STEM Foundation) to do outreach and workshops for inner city students that utilize his DJ knowledge and expertise to show how technology affects our everyday life. His goal is to increase the number of minority scholars and interest in the S.T.E.M. related fields.
