The story of Dolores and Sonny Brown continues with their lives and termoil between the families of the Galuerts and Fodors involving the power of ownership, the take over of their family businesses and the attemped murder of their grand daughter, Sherrie, after she marries Steven Fodor. Preview: ”Mrs. Sherrie Fodor? Detective Byrd here. The suspect is a two time looser, jailed on drugs, muggings and stealing.” He took a deep breath and continued, ”His name is Tommy Brown and he refused to tell who hired him to kill you. He’s going back to jail. She became nervous and felt the sting of acid on the back of her tongue. She grew irritated and confused and suddenly scared. Who was out to get her? She hadn’t done anything to anyone. They were ruining her career and she would soon have to go back to Paris. Someone was watching her and she didn’t want to stay around to find out who hated her to the point of wanting her dead. She was home for two weeks before she began to feel safe. She went to bed early and slept late. Steven came home early to be with her. ”I have a proposition for you. Work with me at the mill.”
”I’m not a mill person. If I wanted to work at the mill, I could so for my Father.”
”We can spend time together. Think about working with me.”
She kicked the floor. ”Man I knew you’d think of something to get me to stay here.” She rubbed her forehead in circular strokes.
”It’s for you so you can stop feeling afraid.”
”I really don’t need this.” She palmed her forehead. ”God, I don’t know what I’m doing here. I had a good job.” Little by little, she felt her control slipping from her. ”I have to talk to Grand mamma.” She got in her silver Mercedes and drove above the speed limit. The light was green, and then quickly changed yellow. A couple of drivers honked their horns and gave her the finger and she barely waited for the light to turn green before she sped past the other drivers.
