Biography
In today’s music industry you cannot judge a book by its cover.
More importantly you cannot judge a person’s ability by their title.
Being a DJ is more than just playing dope records at a club, scratching and mixing break beats or screaming over house speakers while rocking a party.
Being a DJ is; setting a pace for the emcee, igniting thoughts that consummate rhyme patterns which eventually lead to vocal rhythms projected on to microphones, then to crowds, then to the world.
Being a DJ is being more than just being a DJ, and Julian Jackson Turner aka
DJ Blenz
is being just that. More.
Born in Newark NJ, having lived in New York City and now residing in Los Angeles California, DJ Blenz has always looked up to the legends for musical inspiration like Todd Terry, Little Louie Vega and Roger Sanchez, as well as more familiar names like Kid Capri, DJ Red Alert, and DJ Khaled to name a few. None however gave him more inspiration than his father. ‘I saw my father go from a 9-5 welder to becoming a full time orchestrator and musician’ states DJ Blenz, ‘ I knew that If my father could do that, there was no excuse for me not to pursue my music career’
DJ Blenz
is a music composer, producer and songwriter with his own niche for bringing music to the masses. Being registered with BMI since 2004, DJ Blenz states ‘Everything I am doing is pretty much in house’. Having worked as creative manager for Flip The Page Entertainment, 23 West Productions/Bass Hit Studio, and as an manager’s assistant for Jade Productions (MJJ/SONY) , DJ Blenz is knowledgeable in all aspects of sound, presentation and quality. Having taken important experiences and relationships from every job opportunity, DJ Blenz understands the value of having a network. ‘ The most important thing I’ve learned about this game is to network’ says DJ Blenz, ‘to me it’s easy because it’s all about what you want and how you can create a bigger network of capable people to get to your goal’
Having spun at reputable venues such as Club Tatou (LA) Bianca’s on The Park (NYC), Orchard Bar (NYC) and colleges such as Kean (NJ) and Bloomfield (NJ) as well as weddings and major holiday events, DJ Blenz ability to motivate people of all types is what keeps him gaining more momentum. Whether it’s an old school classic like Melissa Morgan’s ‘ Still in Love’ or a rare cut on DJ Blenz will keep the party going in the right direction. ‘I play what people want to hear, bottom line’ statesDJ Blenz, ‘In ten years I see myself touring the world, my entertainment company successfully launching platinum artists, I see myself setting trends’
