Lady Gaga has heard the rumors and she can’t remain silent any more.
Mother Monster recently unloaded on her LittleMonsters website, clearing the air about rumors that Interscope lost $25 million on her latest album, which forced the label to lay off employees.
Those claims were published shortly after the album’s release in a post on the Examiner website that has since been deleted, but Gaga hasn’t forgotten about the rumors. The star wrote in a post on her site that there is ”no truth to many of your comments, including the 25 million dollars deficit. These are rumors that are being repeated and spread. They are completely untrue.”
Gaga says that Interscope plans to continue working ”ARTPOP,” which debuted with sales of 258,000 in its first week, a significant drop compared to her previous releases. Yet she also hints there may be trouble brewing inside her inner-circle. ”I have lost love [sic] ones to the greed of money [but] it is not Interscope. They in fact love me very much and will see ’ARTPOP’ to the end.”
At the beginning of her message, Gaga pointed to those unnamed individuals who have betrayed her. ”My heart breaks from the people I have trusted and loved who I’ve worked so closely with, who have used me, lied to me, worked me into the ground for the personal gain,” she wrote. ”When I woke up in the hospital after my surgery there were many people that were not there. My health did not matter. I did not matter unless I could perform. This is a very hard lesson.”
In a separate post, Gaga continued her rant, making such observations as ”’Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more.”
She also jabbed accusatory fingers as to why her newest video ”Do What U Want,” which she had previously announced would be out in December, is not live yet. ”I was given a week to plan and execute it,” she noted. ”All my my most successful videos were planned over a period of time when I was rested and my creativity was honored. Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health and left me on my own to damage control any problems that ensued as a result.”
Gaga did not make clear who exactly the target of her posts was; however, pure speculation would most likely target her management team. Before the Nov. 11, 2013, release of ”ARTPOP,” Gaga split from her longtime manager, Troy Carter. Also, in October, she settled a heated legal battle with her former assistant, Jennifer L. O’Neill.
Gaga began her post by thanking her fans for standing by her, writing, ”You are so beautiful, and your message to me is so powerful. In fact it is much more than the media.”
