Kaws 'Down Time' Exhibition at High Museum of Art - Recap
Finally you get a detailed look at the newly opened museum exhibition by New York artist Kaws. ‘Down Time’ opened its doors Friday, February 17th, 2012, at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
Showcasing both old and new works at the museum, the large scale ones were the most impressive. Kaws also once again presented a big lot of smaller round works. In a pavillon exhibition the artist showcased his vinyl sculptures (toys), as well as collaborative paintings on photographs with fashion photographer David Sims. Also the Passing Through Companion greeted you in front of the museum and a large oversized Chum sculpture was part of the exhibit. The 22 foot site specific mural, The Nature of Need, seen here above, was certainly the winner of the show.
