    That big ass board and people are doing the mixing with a mouse LOL…. That looks like an Analog board. They still got 2 inch reels in there or straight protools? When I go back to LA I’m going to have to check that out.

    SPOCK…

    I will debate this one all day, 2 inch will always sound better then protools and will have more bottom. Just like Vinyl will always sound better then CD’s.

    So after reading this post, I have spent the last two hours reading about Michael Jackson. I did a search for WestLake Studios and found out in the A room is where they recorded Thiller. So then I started reading articles about Bruce the engineer working on the Thriller album and the different machines used at the time. Dude goes over the mics, mic pres, drum machines and everything used to make an album that sold over 110 million copies.

    A fact I didn’t know about. Micheal recorded Thriller in the dark!! Wowwwww

    JD,

    Man I hope and pray I can get in there one day and crank a hit out similar to the King. Is that the same room where Thriller was recorded? I have a pic of when Thriller was recorded and it looks similar just up-to-date. I see ya with the Mac too…

    @MQR

    And they said Mike was never late to the studio and never used a sheet of paper in the booth, he would memorize all the songs and parts before he came. Man this is the reason why I stopped selling studio time, jokers would come to the studio and I would have to sit their as they do take after take because they didn’t know THEIR own song that they wrote!! SAD

    When everybody brings their best the product is the best.
